Chapter 227 Some Things
Chapter 227 Some Things
"Are you alright now?" Fang Cheng thought to himself, "They've already thrown me out."
Fang Cheng picked up his lamp and, following his memory, planned to walk back to his house and have a proper discussion with the two little golden finger figures about what kind of dungeon this was.
The thought of the deserted road made Fang Cheng a little uneasy, but he also hoped that the road really was deserted—it was better than something suddenly jumping out at him while he was walking.
As Fang Cheng walked downstairs, he could vaguely see a light appearing at the entrance of the stairwell.
Fang Cheng found it strange. Who was lighting a lamp so late at night? Upon closer inspection, he saw Gu Huayang standing there, holding his kerosene lamp, as if he had been waiting for a long time.
Fang Cheng blinked, glanced at the kerosene lamp in Gu Huayang's hand, and confirmed that it must be Gu Huayang himself—because she had looked at all the other servant NPCs of the same status as them, and none of them had a kerosene lamp hanging on their bodies like they did. This was also the method she had just asked the two cheat-like figures for distinguishing between players and NPCs in the dungeon.
"Didn't you go back?" Fang Cheng asked cautiously.
“I’m a little worried about you,” Gu Huayang said, beckoning to Fang Cheng. “Come with me, I’ll take you home first.”
The two walked quietly as before. Fang Cheng had assumed that Gu Huayang would walk with her quietly back to their residence, but to her surprise, Gu Huayang asked first, "Have you seen Miss?"
Fang Cheng nodded and said, "I see, there are quite a few people in her room."
“Those are probably just NPCs. You didn’t break any rules, so they won’t do anything to you,” Gu Huayang said, then asked again to confirm, “Did you really see that young lady in the room?”
“Yes, that’s right,” Fang Cheng said. “She was the one who told me to put the teacup down and leave.”
“Then the person walking in the corridor doesn’t look like the young lady,” Gu Huayang said, frowning. “Shortly after you went up, I saw that girl with the knife again at the door. She was loitering in front of the door until you came downstairs before she left.”
"Now we can be sure that the person who was strolling in the corridor and that young lady are not the same person." Gu Huayang said as he thought about it. After returning to his room, he took out the rule sheet and studied it again.
"Why is the information about the eldest and second young ladies different on everyone's rule sheet?" Fang Cheng asked.
"Well—how many dungeons have you participated in?" Gu Huayang suddenly asked.
“Three of them, all related to school. They were relatively easy for me. I managed to get by and then left,” Fang Cheng replied.
"Have you contacted any other players before?" Gu Huayang asked again.
“No,” Fang Cheng shook his head, “because the worlds I went to were just thrown in and started right away. So I didn’t have the time or the way to determine which of those people were players like me who were captured and brought in. Basically, I just saw someone had completed the game and then copied their completion method.”
"This is the first time that players in the world can still gather together for a meeting."
“I see,” Gu Huayang understood. “In other words, you haven’t tried to find out the reason why these duplicate worlds were formed.”
"Is there a reason why these duplicate worlds were formed?" Fang Cheng asked, somewhat surprised.
“Some do, some don’t, but most dungeon worlds are formed for a reason,” Gu Huayang replied. “For example, the last world I went to. That world was formed because someone had too much resentment, and we needed to resolve that person’s resentment in order to find a way to leave that world.”
"So is this copy the same?" Fang Cheng asked.
“I think so,” Gu Huayang said. “We each have different identities, so we see the event from different perspectives. We need to consider all aspects based on each person’s identity to restore the truth of the event.”
"For example, given my identity, I already knew that the second young lady was dead, so the rules would state that the eldest young lady would sleepwalk at night and hurt people while sleepwalking—because the tea house only has one eldest young lady in charge."
"But you probably don't know this about your identity, so you still think the Second Miss will come to see you picking tea leaves."
At this point, Gu Huayang stopped and said, "Go into your room. I'm going back too."
"Okay, goodbye." Fang Cheng nodded, thanked Gu Huayang, and then went into his room.
After lying in bed, Fang Cheng was still a little scared—she heard some noises outside.
As Fangcheng got out of bed, the sounds disappeared again, but when he lay back down, they reappeared.
Fang Cheng dared not sleep, but thinking that he had to get up very early the next day to pick tea leaves, he felt that he had to fall asleep quickly.
But the noises outside the window were really loud, sounding like screaming and crying at the same time, and either way, they made me tremble.
Having no other choice, Fang Cheng had to grow his two cheat-like little figures, thinking that even if he couldn't sleep, he could at least get some information about this world from them.
Lu Renkui and the system WQBYRZM sat cross-legged in front of Fang Cheng. Fang Cheng hid under the covers, only his eyes showing, looking at Lu Renkui and the system WQBYRZM.
"Do you know how this copy world was formed?" Fang Cheng asked.
"This instance world was formed from resentment," the system WQBYRZM displayed the original answer.
"Is it the resentment of those two sisters?" Fang Cheng asked.
“Not just,” the system WQBYRZM replied, “their resentment only plays a supporting role.”
"They can only play a supporting role... then why are they the bosses of this instance?" Fang Cheng asked.
"They were already in a leadership position, and their leadership position did not change after this world became a world of strange rules. So, despite providing resentment as a secondary factor, they are still the bosses of this world."
"Besides those two, are there any other bosses in this world?"
"Yes," the system WQBYRZM replied, "there is a male boss."
"When will he appear?" Fang Cheng became nervous upon hearing that a new boss would be in this instance.
“It should have appeared by now,” Lu Renkui recalled, having also glanced at the original text when the system WQBYRZM was flipping through it. “However, this male boss doesn’t have much to do with you.”
“What are those screams and cries outside the window? Are they from small animals?” Fang Cheng asked again—she had once heard a child crying at a friend’s house, but her friend explained that it was their cat meowing.
“It’s not a small animal,” the system WQBYRZM replied.
"What, what is that?" Fang Cheng gripped the blanket tightly.
“Dead,” said the system WQBYRZM.
"What died?" Fang Cheng asked. Suddenly, she felt as if the surroundings had become quiet.
Lu Renkui had noticed it long ago. She sensed something was wrong and looked out the window. Sure enough, several pairs of eyes were shining as they stared at the equation in the room.
Those guys all looked like charcoal, and their two glowing eyes were like two tiny, faulty light bulbs, blinking on and off.
Lu Renkui was startled, but she only took a deep breath and didn't scream. If she had screamed, Fang Cheng would probably have been even more frightened.
It seemed that if Fangcheng didn't go to sleep soon, these things would definitely get in and do something to him. For Fangcheng's safety, Lu Renkui first pressed Fangcheng's head down and said, "Go to sleep first. We'll talk to you again tomorrow morning."
Fangcheng realized something was wrong and closed his eyes, trying to fall asleep.
But after a while, Fang Cheng found himself still conscious.
What's going on? I'm usually so sleepy in class.
"Never mind that, go to sleep first." Lu Renkui reached out and patted Fangcheng's head.
Fang Cheng felt two hands stroking his head, and he felt like someone was with him.
Having someone around seemed to make him less afraid. Fang Cheng closed his eyes, drowsiness washed over him, and soon began to snore softly.
"I almost forgot you had this trick up your sleeve." The system WQBYRM exclaimed, looking at Lu Renkui's hands, which seemed to be under a spell.
