Chapter 226 Miss 2 is dead

Chapter 226 Miss 2 is dead

Fang Cheng quickly realized why Gu Huayang had pulled her over so nervously.

Shortly after Fang Cheng and Gu Huayang squatted under the pillar, a girl approached. She wore a cheongsam in the same blue-and-white porcelain pattern, along with embroidered shoes in the same color scheme. Her graceful figure was evident as she walked.

What should have been a pleasant sight was instead chilling because of the gleaming knife the girl was carrying.

Upon seeing this scene, Fang Cheng immediately thought of the sentence on her rule sheet: "The Second Miss enjoys taking walks at night, please do not disturb her enjoyment."

Gu Huayang squatted on the ground, craning his neck to look. Only after the woman in the blue and white porcelain-colored cheongsam had walked away did he pull Fang Cheng up to stand up.

"Why didn't you go back to your room to sleep last night? And you were holding a tray of... tea?" Gu Huayang looked at the steaming tea in Fang Cheng's hand with some curiosity. "I thought Bai Xingyi was the one who did this."

“I don’t know why,” Fang Cheng said, looking down at the plate he was holding, “but that’s what the rules say.”

"Who are you sending this tea to?" Gu Huayang asked, somewhat puzzled. "The young lady? But she was just walking down the corridor carrying a knife. Are you sure she won't stab you if you deliver this tea now?"

"Ah, this tea is for the eldest young lady. She shouldn't be asleep yet, right? And that was the second young lady in the corridor just now." Fang Cheng was a little puzzled. Didn't Gu Huayang's rules mention that the boss of this instance was a pair of twin sisters?

"Second Miss?" Gu Huayang was clearly stunned. "Wasn't the Second Miss dead a long time ago?"

"Dead?" Fang Cheng was also a little confused about how things had developed.

“Yes, it’s true. My rule sheet says that the eldest young lady can sleepwalk, and she will hurt people if anyone gets close while she’s sleepwalking.” Gu Huayang said as he took out four pieces of paper from his pocket. After looking through them one by one, he found the rule sheet that mentioned the eldest and second young ladies. “So as the steward, I need to remove anyone who is blocking the eldest young lady’s sleepwalking. And we can’t make any noise that might disturb her sleepwalking.”

"And Second Miss... This piece of paper says that the offerings for Second Miss's memorial hall need to be changed every day. The tea on the offering table also needs to be changed every two hours. I already confirmed when I went to change the offerings during the day that the portrait on the memorial hall is indeed that of Second Miss, and Second Miss's grave is right in the tea garden. Didn't you see that?" Gu Huayang raised his head and looked at Fang Cheng, who was shaking with the contents of the plate in front of him, and asked seriously.

"I really didn't see it." Fang Cheng was about to cry—first he was frightened by the cat-faced old woman, and then he was told that the second young lady was dead, and that her grave was in the tea garden. Seeing a ghost three times a day, who wouldn't be scared?

"It seems our rules give us different information. I thought we all knew one of the sisters was alive and the other was dead. So we haven't discussed this topic. What do your rules say about the two sisters?"

“It doesn’t explicitly say which one is dead and which one is alive, so I’ve assumed they’re both alive.” Fang Cheng gripped the plate tightly in his hand. “Because my rules say that the Second Miss likes to take walks at night and will come to watch me pick tea leaves. If I’m not careful, I don’t know what the consequences will be. So I assumed that the Second Miss is alive, just like the Eldest Miss.”

“Then we should check this out when we eat tomorrow,” Gu Huayang said, frowning. “You’re carrying this tray of tea to give to the young lady, right?”

Fang Cheng nodded, but looked much more frightened than before.

"Do you know where her room is?" Gu Huayang asked again.

Fang Cheng shook her head; she had originally intended to ask the two little golden finger figures.

“I’ll take you there. Night patrols are patrols anyway. We just need to get through the night. Having a living person with me makes me feel more at ease,” Gu Huayang said, then walked in one direction. “Follow me.”

Fang Cheng stood there for a while, looked down at the two little figures in his pocket, and saw that the pink-haired twin-tailed one nodded. Only then did Fang Cheng pick up the plate and chase after her.

The two walked one after the other. Gu Huayang led Fang Cheng through the corridor, out of the house they were in, and into another large house.

Gu Huayang silently led Fang Cheng up the stairs. After climbing three floors, Gu Huayang stopped at the top of the stairs, made way for Fang Cheng, and said, "Let's go over there. The young lady is in front of the last door on this floor."

Fang Cheng nodded to Gu Huayang to express his gratitude, and then began to think about how he should deliver the tea to the young lady.

My rule sheet says that the young lady is a light sleeper and shouldn't be disturbed, but it also says that I should make tea for her. It's late at night and I haven't seen any servants or anything, so I don't know if the young lady is asleep or not.

If the young lady is asleep, should we shake her awake to drink tea? Fang Cheng thought, that wouldn't be right either, wouldn't that violate the rule of not disturbing the young lady's sleep?

Wait a minute! Gu Huayang suddenly called out to Fang Cheng. Fang Cheng stopped and turned to look at Gu Huayang.

"Don't knock, just go in when you get there," Gu Huayang said, looking at the high school girl in front of him with a complicated expression. "Don't be afraid of anything you see, they won't hurt you."

Fang nodded to indicate that he understood: "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Gu Huayang said, turning to leave. "I should go back now, you should go back as soon as possible too."

With the hints given by Gu Huayang, Fang Cheng felt a little relieved. After asking the two little golden finger characters to confirm that what Gu Huayang said was correct, Fang Cheng was even more at ease.

Fang Cheng carried the plate to the last door at the end of the corridor. She swallowed hard to calm herself down, then rammed the plate against the closed door.

As Gu Huayang said, it was indeed possible to go in directly, because the door was not closed at all.

The room was pitch black, with the only light source being the small gas lamp hanging from Fang Cheng's waist.

After entering the room, Fang Cheng moved slowly, taking tiny steps, not daring to speak or look around, afraid that he might accidentally do something wrong and lose his life.

After taking five steps, a person suddenly appeared, startling Fang Cheng. The teacup on the plate he was holding made a crisp clinking sound as it hit the plate.

The man showed no remorse and simply reached out his hands to Fang Cheng for the plate.

Fang hesitated and didn't dare to give it to him.

Suddenly, a light in the room came on. Under the light, the gentle face of Miss Li Yin appeared before Fang Cheng.

"Give him the plate you're holding. You've worked hard. Go back to sleep," Li Yin said with a smile.

Fangcheng gripped the plate tightly, feeling the two little figures in her pocket tug at her.

What did they mean? Fang Cheng thought for a moment and handed the plate to the person in front of him.

The two little figures stopped arguing; it seems I did the right thing. Fang Cheng thought to himself, and after confirming that the person in front of him had taken it properly, he shook hands for a while longer before letting go.

Just as he released the plate, two people rushed out from the left and right, carrying Fangcheng out of the room.

Upon reaching the room door, the two threw the equation on the ground.

Fang Cheng fell to the ground and before he could get up, he heard a "bang".

Li Yin's room door was locked.
