Chapter 464: Somebody Help!
Chapter 464: Somebody Help!
Jiang Ran was now on the first floor of the castle. He felt that even if he found no prizes at all, just touring the castle’s interior was worth it.
On top of that, he now had a small card he had just found on an old record player.
A laundry machine card.
That made him feel even more satisfied.
He was in a study on the first floor.
All four walls of this study were bookshelves filled with books.
All of them were English books.
In the center of the study was a red griffin knight Kieran-patterned carpet.
On the carpet sat an exquisitely crafted wooden desk.
On the desk stood an old-fashioned lamp and little desk ornaments like a white human wax figurine.
Of course, there was also a world map.
Unlike Hua Country’s world map.
On this map, the central location was the UK.
Beside the wooden desk were several aging chairs.
Under the ornate window at the far left, there was an orange sofa.
Naturally, this study was not complete without a fireplace.
A study without a fireplace would be incomplete, whether it got used in winter or not.
The overall tone of the study was warm.
Imagine, in the dead of winter, wearing a knit pajama, sipping coffee in a warm study while reading — how pleasant that would be!
Especially when compared to those ordinary people outside who had to go out in the biting cold for a few mouthfuls of food.
You’d feel even more grateful for the warmth of that coffee in your hands.
But this daydream was shattered by cries of “Help!”
Jiang Ran was forced out of his reverie, frowned, went to the window, and opened it.
He saw a man on the distant green lawn clutching his head, running toward them.
“Something happened?”
Jiang Ran’s brow furrowed deeper.
It was as if his two previously unrelated eyebrows had suddenly linked up, forming an unparalleled consensus.
When the luxury coach had stopped at the estate gate and he had gotten off, he had noticed the alert sounding again in his mind:
[Ding! Danger zone detected! Please move away quickly! Points +5! Points +5! Points...]
Although he noticed it, he barely reacted.
Since being bound to the System, he had weathered too many shocks.
It no longer caused him to jump the way it once had.
On the contrary, places flagged by the danger warning felt strangely familiar.
After all, they earned points.
Still, he hadn’t expected that although it was labeled a danger zone, something would go wrong so quickly.
Jiang Ran hurried out of the study to see what had happened.
By the time he arrived, several people had already gathered around the man who had been shouting for help, having rushed over when they heard the cries.
Jiang Ran arrived just in time to hear this man, called Ah Jie, explain what had happened to him:
“There! There’s a pig-headed pervert in that building! He attacked my girlfriend and me! I ran out first! My girlfriend’s trapped in there! Quick! Save her!”
Ah Jie was frantic, sweating all over.
He clung tightly to the person supporting him.
If not for the large bloodstain and the gruesome wound on the back of Ah Jie’s head, the others present might have thought he was joking and wasting their treasure-hunting time.
“All right, let’s hurry over! Ah Jie, lead the way!”
They had been classmates before, so of course they would help when something like this happened.
Thus, the group set off for that building in force.
Jiang Ran was among them.
They soon reached the building.
They went up to the second floor.
On the second floor they saw a trail of dried red blood drops on the floor.
Ah Jie grinned tautly, “That’s all my blood!”
They followed the bloodstains to the room where the incident had occurred.
When they arrived they saw a man half-squatting inside, holding Ah Jie’s girlfriend in his arms.
“Who are you?!”
Among Jiang Ran and the others was the class vice monitor.
His name was Yu Xiaobo.
Yu Xiaobo sized the man up and said, “You’re not the one who attacked Ah Jie, are you?!”
“No! It wasn’t him! He saved me! If not for him, I wouldn’t have had a chance to warn anyone!”
Ah Jie hurriedly explained, afraid of a misunderstanding.
But he looked at the man with puzzlement and asked, “Zombie Tyrannosaurus, you told me to go get people? Why are you here yourself? And where’s that pig-headed man?!”
“Zombie Tyrannosaurus?!”
Hearing that name, the others were stunned.
That name…
uh…
“You went to get help while I hid here to look for a chance to rescue her alone, a two-pronged approach. I was surprised when I came to this room and only found your girlfriend hanging there by herself. The pig-headed man had disappeared.”
Zombie Tyrannosaurus looked up and said, “All right, quickly carry your girlfriend out. I just checked the wounds;they aren’t fatal, but she needs treatment immediately.”
A few of Ah Jie’s classmates immediately stepped forward.
Jiang Ran went over too, but he didn’t help lift. Instead he stared at the iron hook extending down from the ceiling.
The hook was large, black, and likely iron.
Usually such hooks were for hanging meat.
But in this case, it had been used to hang a person.
“Jiang Ran, what are you looking at? Come on, hurry!”
Vice monitor Yu Xiaobo shouted at him.
“Nothing much, I’m looking at the hook.”
Everyone present focused on it and saw the bloodstains on it.
A few of Ah Jie’s classmates went pale.
They had heard the self-proclaimed Zombie Tyrannosaurus say that Ah Jie’s girlfriend had been hung up there...
Given the room layout, only that iron hook could have been used to hang someone.
“Ugh…”
To be hung by such a large iron hook would have been agonizing.
A few people’s eyelids started twitching in unison.
The group left the building, and Zombie Tyrannosaurus came out with them.
Outside, Yu Xiaobo pulled out his phone to call the police and an ambulance.
But after trying for a long time, the calls wouldn’t go through — there was no signal.
“Damn! Stupid phone! No signal!”
Yu Xiaobo cursed.
At such a crucial moment the phone failed him;he was ready to replace it.
One of the men with them mocked, “Your phone brand can’t even do this? Watch mine!”
“My phone has satellite communications! Even in a desert or the deep sea I can call immediately!”
The man confidently produced his phone.
But within three minutes he was swearing, “Damn! Why can’t my phone call either?! Where’s my satellite call?!”
The others tried as well, including Jiang Ran, and all had the same result.
No matter what brand, they were all useless — like bricks.
Now the group was at a loss.
One quick-thinking person suggested, “There’s a coach parked at the estate gate. Go there and have the driver take her to the hospital!”
