Chapter 474 - 474: Not Another One...
The four of them, Seth, Ava, Woe and the man only known as The Hunter, strolled through the new streets of Washington. For some reason, the hunter seemed nervous as he walked, constantly glancing over his shoulder at Seth who made sure that this Hunter was at the front at all times. His threads curled from his body, waving in the air like the arms of an octopus, constantly drawing The Hunter's eyes up to them. He didn't move them quick, instead making sure their movements were slow and obvious, to prompt any sort of response from the hunter.
But even if he directly looked at them, this Hunter insisted on ignoring them.
"T-there is much of the city to explore sir. What would you like to do first? We could tour the factory and show you our innovation in weapons technology... or perhaps you would like to see the conditions of our schools, for your young friends here."
The Hunters voice trembled, as he sprinkled in a few nervous laughs between his stutters. Seth's threads slowly moved over the man, a single thread caressing his cheek threateningly while the others slowly and loosely wrapped around his limbs. Yet even still, the man kept his gaze forwards.
Seth tilted his head curiously at the strange interaction, while the twins walked innocently behind him. Their heads on a swivel as they looked around the foreign land with awe. Even if it was just another city, it was a new city. Everything about it was new and weird, such as the absolute love of flags.
What was that all about? Now if they had some ravens sitting on the roofs instead or statues lining the streets, that would make more sense. Seriously, this place could really do with an influx of statues. Every city needed at least one good statue.
They were completely oblivious to the fact that the man acting as their guide was acting suspicious, or that he was slowly being ensnared by invisible, ethereal threads. At least until they made the next turn, and Seth finally responded to the Hunters question.
"What I want first... is to ask you a question. Just one very simple question."
"Oh?" The Hunter said, glancing over his shoulder as they turned the next corner. However his footsteps slowed to a halt as he realised that they had just turned into the dead end of an alleyway.
"Oh..." He muttered, frowning deeply as he stared at the wall in front of him. How did he not realise this was where they were going? How... How did the man walking behind him lead him here? When did he even take over their course?
Before he could get an answer to his questions, the threads slowly encircling him solidified all at once. Their loose bindings immediately tightened, and with a wave of Seth's hand the Hunter was lifted from the ground, spun in the air and slammed into the wall that blocked his path.
The Twins let out gasps of shock, but Seth ignored them. Keeping his hand outstretched, as if he was using his assumed power of Telekinesis, he took a few slow steps forwards with narrowed eyes.
"I want to know what those special eyes have seen." He muttered with a low, cold and monotonous voice. His body emanating the same aura of death that Corvus had displayed at the meeting, but it was much more restrained.
He only let it leak out slightly, and directed it entirely onto the Hunter so that the twins didn't feel a single bit of it. But for the Hunter, it was like Seth was squeezing his heart with terror itself.
"What have you seen, dear hunter? What do you know about me? Oh... My apologies... That seems to be two questions. Still, I'm sure you can answer them both nonetheless."
The Hunter whimpered, wriggling against his bindings and squirming where Seth held him in the air. His eyes bulged out of his head as he stared directly at the man in front of him, his voice catching in his throat as he struggled to find the words.
"A-A-A... A God..."
Seth frowned deeply as the man sputtered out his answer, clenching his jaw tight.
'No...' Seth thought to himself, 'No, Don't you dare.'
"I... I saw a God. I looked at a man and saw a God, a God that contains the entire world behind his eyes, and a soul that is boundless and without limit. One that burns brighter than the sun itself!"
The more the man spoke, the more his confidence grew. His eyes bulged wider, but not with the fear that Seth had thought they held. Instead it was filled with passion, reverence and... Obsession.
He was filled with absolute awe and was not ashamed to display it, no matter how much Seth wished that he was.
Every word that he said spoke more about how amazing and spectacular Seth's soul was, basically cementing the fact that he could in fact see it. But did he really have to go on so much?
Even worse, behind him Woe was bobbing his head in agreement, while Ava had her hands clasped in front of her as her eyes sparkled with joy. The twins hung on every word the man said and he just would. not. shut. up!
It got to the point that Seth had to wrap his threads around the man's mouth and cut off his voice mid sermon, before he went on anymore about how amazing it felt to have this divine soul grace him with its presence.
With silence reinstated, and Seth's intimidating aura completely annalihated, he had to take a moment to regain his composure and resist the urge to face palm himself into oblivion. Once he had himself in order, he turned to the silenced hunter and tried to keep a serious expression as he glared at this idiots sparkling eyes.
"So, you can see souls, and judging by the way you found us and know what I'm connected to, you can track them in some way, right?"
The hunter let out some eager, muffled words, before realising his error and nodding quickly.
Seth sighed at that answer.
"Great. Just Great... Well, if that's how you really feel I guess you're not the threat I thought you were."
The Hunter shook his head desperately, as if the thought of being considered a threat to his new god was the most harrowing thing in the world.
"Now that's settled," Seth continued, "I do actually have somewhere I want to see. I want to see the mines, and where you get all the metal for your guns. Because I'm betting that you don't get it all from destroyed buildings, do you?"
