The Transmigrated Farm Girl Has a Cheat Code

Chapter 2 Lin Yu

Chapter 2 Lin Yu

Lin Yan recalled a male-oriented novel he had read before the apocalypse.

The story revolves around Lin Yu, a young man who rises from humble beginnings in a small village to become a prime minister. His older sister, Lin Yan, is named after him, and she remembers her sister's name.

Lin Yan died because she was mistreated by her grandmother and did not receive timely medical treatment when she fell ill.

Lin Yu's mother felt extremely guilty after her daughter's death, which worsened her already poor health, and she eventually died in bed, depressed.

Lin's father, wife, and daughter all died. He severed ties with his parents and left home with Lin Yu to make a living. However, due to his poor legs, he accidentally fell off the mountain and died while logging. Lin Yu became an orphan without parents.

What follows is the story of Lin Yu's continuous struggle and growth at the bottom.

Having witnessed too much of the evil in human nature, Lin Yu's personality became increasingly gloomy and dark. He made a living by working as a strategist for influential people and doing dirty work.

"Wow! This name matches the plot pretty well! Have I transmigrated into a book?" Lin Yan thought to himself.

She quickly activated her wood-type ability and found that it was still there, albeit much weaker. Her spatial ability was also there, including her own belongings from her own space, which had also traveled with her. She felt more relaxed and confident.

Lin Yan circulated his wood-type supernatural power through his body, repairing the little girl's body and making her feel much better.

"Whether it's time travel or transmigrating into a book, being alive is a good thing!"

She got off the kang (a heated brick bed), put on the cloth shoes on the floor, opened the door and went outside. The sun was shining brightly, there was a slight cool breeze, and the weather was very comfortable; it must be springtime.

She looked at the woman cleaning the chicken coop. She was bending over to tidy up, then stood up to support her back, tapped it a couple of times, and then bent down again to continue tidying up.

Lin Yan walked over and said, "Mother, let me help you collect it!"

Lin's mother looked up: "Yan'er, why did you get off the kang? Are you feeling better?"

"I'm much better now. I came out for some fresh air. Let me do the work!" Lin Yan snatched the broom from his mother's hand and started cleaning up.

The chicken coop wasn't too dirty because it was cleaned regularly, but it smelled a bit bad. However, Lin Yan had seen all sorts of disgusting things in the apocalypse, so he focused on cleaning and finished quickly.

"Oh, you were pretending to be dead in bed yesterday, and now you're all better." A sarcastic voice rang out.

Lin Yan turned around and saw that it was Li Shi, the original owner's second aunt, who was carrying a basin of dirty clothes.

"Perfect timing! Hurry up and wash the clothes, I have other things to do! Who's like you two, all delicate and pampered, acting like rich young ladies waiting to be served?" Madam Li threw a basin of dirty clothes on the ground.

"I'll wash it!" Lin's mother didn't want to argue with Li Shi too much. "Yan'er, you're feeling a bit better now, go back and rest for a while."

"No need, I'm all better now, I'll go wash up!" Lin Yan calmly took the basin from his mother's hand. Lin Yan could tell that this family was really not polite to the eldest son's family.

However, she doesn't know much about the situation yet, so she might as well go out for a stroll.

Lin Yan carried the clothes towards the riverbank, her mind racing as she sorted out the current situation. As far as the young girl knew, Gezhuang Village was located in Rong'an County, Yun'an Province, Daliang Kingdom.

Yun'an Province borders the State of Ye and is located in a border region. Gezhuang Village is near the Bailing Mountains, beyond which lies the territory of the State of Bei.

"The border region... if a war breaks out here, we'll be the first to be wiped out!" Lin Yan thought to herself.

But it's too early to think about these things now. For Lin Yan, the most important thing right now is to fill his stomach.

Ever since the eldest son of the Lin family broke his leg while working, their lives have become increasingly difficult. Although they are far from starving, the treatment of the eldest son's family has taken a sharp turn for the worse.

The money earned by Lin the eldest was the main source of income for the family besides farming, but after the money was handed over, the stingy old lady Lin refused to give any of it to the eldest son's family. The family of four lived a very tight life, barely able to afford a meal, and not even a decent one. When the little girl got sick, there was no time to get her treatment.

Moreover, the original owner's mother was not in good health. She was always being ordered around by the Lin family and had not been able to rest properly. Therefore, she still had to find a way to earn money and keep it in her own hands.

Thinking this, Lin Yan walked to the riverbank, where several women from the same village were washing clothes. Lin Yan found a spot and put down his basin.

"Yan girl, are you feeling better? You weren't sick, were you?" Lin Yan turned around and saw that the person washing clothes next to him was Zhang's wife from next door, who was looking at him with some concern.

Lin Yan sighed inwardly, "Even my own family members don't care about this little girl as much as my neighbors do!"

"Aunt Zhang, I'm much better, don't worry."

"That's good. Your parents have been worried about you these past few days, looking worried every day. It's good that you're better now. Take a rest if you're tired. Don't overwork yourself at such a young age."

"Mmm," Lin Yan obediently replied. Then she soaked the clothes in the river, beat them with a stick, and washed them haphazardly.

When she tried to lift the basin, she realized that it was wet and her small frame couldn't lift it at all. Lin Yan was already thin and weak, and she had just been seriously ill, yet she was being ordered to come out and do chores.

Lin Yan had just rinsed the clothes once, but there were actually no clothes for the eldest son's family in the basin, which made him even more dissatisfied.

"Hmph, move them yourself! I'm not serving you anymore!" Lin Yan threw the clothes on the spot and walked back.

"Hey, where is this child going? Don't you want your clothes anymore?" Aunt Zhang was quite puzzled when she saw Lin Yan leave.

Lin Yan strolled back, and when she saw the continuous mountain range to the east, a thought struck her.

Lin Yan walked towards the mountainside. When she reached the foot of the mountain, she found a secluded spot with lush vegetation and sat down cross-legged.

She closed her eyes and carefully sensed the faint wood-type ability within her body, communicating with the surrounding plants. Her wood-type ability allowed her to connect with plants and sense their feelings, but right now her ability was too weak, and the connection was also weak, so she could only sense the mountain environment.

The small hill near the village is just the edge of the border mountain range. The hill has a gentle slope and some common medicinal herbs grow there, but there are not many rare plants. The village doctor often goes up the hill to collect herbs.

However, the mountains further east are much more treacherous, rarely visited, and rich in resources. If Lin Yan wants to make a big profit, he needs to go further afield; relying solely on the small mountains near the neighboring village, all the usable resources have already been harvested.

"I should recover my powers first. It'll be safer to go into the mountains. Otherwise, my current frail body is too unreliable." Lin Yan sighed and walked home.

……

"Brother Hai, Yan'er went to do laundry and hasn't come back yet. It's getting dark. Let's go out and look for her!" Lin's mother said to the honest-looking, strong man in front of her. Lin Yan had been gone for half a day. If she was doing laundry, she should be back by now.

"Don't go out, I'll go look for her." The man stood up and walked outside, only then did people notice that he was limping, but he walked very quickly because he was worried about his daughter.

“Father, I’ll go with you.” A skinny little boy followed.

These are the original owner's father, Lin Hai, and younger brother, Lin Yu. Today, Lin Yu is helping his father by making a cabinet at someone else's house.

The father and son had just stepped out of the gate when they saw Lin Yan strolling back. Lin Hai suddenly stopped, only to be bumped into by Lin Yu, nearly falling to the ground.

"Hmm, sister's back?" Lin Yu's eyes lit up, and he ran forward, throwing himself into Lin Yan's arms. "Sister, are you feeling better?"

Lin Yan looked down at the little boy who was hugging her waist. His peach blossom eyes were like his mother's, with dark eyes, but his gaze towards Lin Yan was bright.

"Wow, this guy will definitely be a male fox spirit when he grows up!" Lin Yan exclaimed. "Looks like this is Lin Yu, the dark male protagonist from that book. Right now, he's just an adorable little boy!"

Lin Yan had absolutely no resistance to this adorable little boy, and she reached out and ruffled his handsome face.

"Waaah... Sister..." The little boy could only cover his head in protest.

"Yan'er, are you alright?" Lin's father watched the siblings bickering from behind, his resolute face softening considerably.

"I'm fine, I just took a walk outside."

"It's good that you're alright. Go back now, your mother is very worried."

"Okay, let's go!" Lin Yan picked up the little boy beside him and went inside. Lin's mother was relieved to see that everyone had returned.

"Sister, I brought you something delicious." The little boy said mysteriously to Lin Yan.

"Hmm, what's so delicious?" Lin Yan was in a great mood when she saw Lin Yu take a small piece of candy out of his pocket.

Seeing him showing off like he was presenting a treasure, Lin's father said with a smile, "This was given to him by the employer who worked for him today. He said he wanted to save it for you to eat."

Lin Yan was somewhat stunned. In this era, sugar was more expensive than meat. Families with better financial conditions might buy some sugar for their children, but for the Lin family, while they might have been able to afford it in the past when times were better, Old Mrs. Lin would absolutely not buy it now, and even if she did, she wouldn't let them eat it.

Lin Yu hadn't eaten candy many times, or perhaps he hadn't eaten it at all; Lin Yan couldn't remember. But his refusal to eat it, insisting on saving it for his older sister at home, still deeply moved Lin Yan.

In the apocalypse, Lin Yan had no relatives left. Although she got along well with her teammates after joining the squad, she had forgotten what the feelings between family members were like.

Since waking up this time, Lin Yan felt a pang of sadness in her heart from her mother's gentleness, her father's steadfastness, and Lin Yu's concern.

"Is this compensation for my heroic sacrifice in the apocalypse?" But then she thought of the fate of the Lin family members and felt very sad.

"I will definitely not let everyone end up like that," Lin Yan thought to herself.

"Your sister just recovered from her illness, and the doctor won't let her eat candy. You can have some." Lin Yan patted the little boy's round head.

"Then let's save it for my sister." The little boy refused to eat it either, hiding the candy under his pillow. "We can eat it in a few days."

"It will melt in a few days. You can eat it. I can buy more later."

Lin's mother knew that Lin Yan only wanted to give it to her younger brother, and she felt both gratified and guilty. "Yu'er, you eat it. I'll have your father buy some more in a few days."

"Okay!" Lin Yu took the candy from his hand. It was wrapped in parchment paper, and inside was a small piece of yellow crystal. Lin Yu put it in his mouth. "It's sweet, but it doesn't taste that great!"

"Okay, next time I can make you even tastier candy."

"Wow! Really?" Lin Yu looked at Lin Yan with his bright, peach-blossom eyes full of admiration, and Lin Yan felt extremely satisfied.

"Yes, of course, sugar can be made into many flavors."

"Wow……"
