Chapter 295 Hunter and Prey 2
Chapter 295 Hunter and Prey 2
The roar of the flesh-and-blood colossus shattered the dark clouds in the sky, and its every step caused the earth to tremble. The remains of over a hundred thousand corpses, stitched together by chaotic energy, formed a moving mountain. When its fist slammed down, the black stone tablets guarded by the Dark Ravens shattered like paper, and the energy barrier collapsed instantly.
"Concentrate fire! Attack its joints!" Kyrian's voice rang out in the communication channel as his chainsaw cleaved through a Chaos cultist who tried to approach.
Russell's golden arc of electricity exploded at the flesh colossus's ankle, and the serrated edge of the Blood Drinker's entrenching tool cleaved through the decaying tendons. But his attack only caused the colossus to stagger slightly before it was swept away by a sweeping blow.
“This thing… is too tough!” Russell’s voice carried a rare hint of frustration.
The White Scar Warrior's Thunderhawk gunship was reduced to scrap metal by the flesh colossus's fists. Casal's White Tiger Blade cleaved through the colossus's fingers, but was immediately slapped away by another hand. His power armor was severely damaged in the impact, and blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
"Kasal!" Arya's psionic shield barely blocked the colossus's next attack, but her face was ashen.
The Dark Raven Guardians' black power armor was like ants beneath the colossus's feet, the hum of their chainswords drowned out by the colossus's roar. Kelion's sniper bullet pierced the colossus's eye socket, but was immediately repaired by chaotic energy.
“At this rate…we can’t hold out!” A Raven Warrior’s voice rang out in the communication channel before he was smashed into a pulp by the Colossus’s fist.
Just as the Raven Guards were locked in fierce combat with the Flesh Colossus, Mal'karn's flagship silently approached the fortress. The Chaos Mechs' power claws tore through the fortress's outer walls, and the Word Bearers' elite forces surged in like a tidal wave.
"Haha! I've finally torn open the nest of these rats!" Malkahn's laughter echoed through the fortress, his compound eyes flashing with madness.
Gorgraz's soul fire flickered in the flesh colossus's eye sockets, and his voice entered Mal'kar's mind through the psionic link: "My lord, their defenses have crumbled, now is our moment of victory!"
Russell's golden arcs of electricity exploded beneath the flesh colossus's feet, and the serrated edge of the Bloodthirsty entrenching tool cleaved through the corrupted tendons. His eyes burned with furious flames, and psionic energy surged wildly within him.
"Gorgraz!" Russell's voice was like thunder, and golden arcs of electricity intertwined in the air to form a huge pillar of light, pointing directly at the eye sockets of the flesh-and-blood colossus.
"You think... you can kill me?" Gorgraz's soul fire struggled within the pillar of light, his voice tinged with terror.
"This time... you can't escape!" Russell roared, golden arcs of electricity erupting in the pillar of light, completely engulfing Gorgraz's soul fire.
The flesh and blood colossus collapsed with a roar after losing the support of the soul fire, and the remains of more than 100,000 corpses turned to ashes in the air.
Although Russell successfully killed Gorgraz, the defenses of Raven Keep had been completely torn apart. Mal'Karn's Chaos Mechs wreaked havoc within the fortress, and the Word Bearers' elite forces surged in like a tidal wave.
"Retreat!" Kyleon's voice rang out in the communication channel, cold and mechanical. "We must preserve our strength and wait for an opportunity to counterattack."
Casal's White Tiger Blade cleaved through the chest of a Word Bearer berserker, his voice tinged with resentment: "Russell, let's go!"
Russell's golden arcs of electricity flickered beneath his skin, and the serrated edge of the Bloodthirsty shovel gleamed coldly: "Next time... I will definitely kill Malkahn with my own hands."
The Raven Guards and White Scar Warriors retreated from the fortress in the chaos, Mal'Kahn's laughter echoing through the ruins: "Run, rats! But your doom is already sealed!"
…………
Inside the Thunderhawk gunship!
Kylian watched with a serious expression as Malcolm wreaked havoc on the fortress.
Suddenly he said: "Now that Malcolm is feeling smug, perhaps we can launch a surprise attack on him."
Casal immediately stood up and objected: Going back now would be suicide.
Russell also said: "The fortress is now full of the Word Bearers' elite; going back would be suicide."
Kylian shook his head and said, "You're all right, but Malkarn is the key. As long as we can get close to him quickly and kill him, the other Word Bearers are nothing to fear."
Casal fell silent. Russell frowned slightly and said, "Perhaps we can really give it a try. My golden psionic energy has a natural ability to restrain chaotic power."
Casal nodded and said: Then let's take the risk.
Arya said: I can help you too.
…………
Malkarn's maniacal laughter echoed through the fortress ruins as the Chaos Mech crushed the Raven Guard's skull insignia. He raised his power claw, crushing the core of the last defensive turret: "Raven Whitescars? Nothing but a bunch of losers..."
Before he could finish speaking, three armor-piercing rounds coated with sound-absorbing material pierced the Chaos Rune on his left shoulder. The reflection from Kyleon's sniper scope flashed by in the wreckage a kilometer away.
"Rat!" Malkahn's compound eyes instantly turned bloodshot, and the rocket pods on the back of the mech spewed out a barrage of poisonous fireballs. But just as the projectiles passed through the air, a golden lightning bolt cleaved through the smoke—Russell's Blooddrinker shovel, accompanied by the shriek of a warp storm, pierced straight into the hydraulic hose of the mech's knee.
“You talk more nonsense than Voda Bloodsong.” Russell’s golden arcs of electricity exploded on the shovel blade, and the corrupted metal melted like butter.
Casal's Thunderhawk gunboat swooped down from the clouds, its hatch still open, before the rider leaped out. The White Tiger Blade cleaved through the air in a crescent-shaped arc as it fell, the blade grazing Malkarn's compound eyes and carving fiery red furrows into the mech's visor.
"Do you still remember Chagatai Khan's teachings?" Kasar braced his feet against the mech's chest, using the momentum to flip back and dodge the sweeping claws. "White Scar's blade is always one step ahead of the enemy's roar!"
Malkarn's mech's thrusters overloaded in pursuit, only to crash into a suddenly rising psionic mist. Arya's phantom flickered within the mist: "You have more than one opponent."
Kyleon's chainsword emerged from the shadows, the silencing runes on the blade making death quieter than breath. The strike precisely pierced the seam of the power bay on the back of the mech, and the tactical data of the Raven Guardians flashed wildly on his retina—the mech's structural blueprints that Russell had risked his life for.
"Energy core, tilt 15 degrees to the left." Kelion's mechanical voice was as cold as iron.
Russell sprang to his feet at the sound, his entrenching tool plunging into the mech's left side. Golden arcs of electricity shot through the shovel handle into the tubing, and the entire mech suddenly convulsed. Malcolm roared, his voice crackling with electrical sparks: "You think this toy can hold me?!"
The mech's outer armor shattered with a deafening roar, and Malkarn's true form leaped from the steel wreckage—his lower body had merged with chaotic energy, transforming into eight scorpion-tail-like bone blades. A corrupted psionic storm erupted from him, forcing the three back dozens of meters.
"Come on! Let me see how much courage your emperor has bestowed!" Malkahn's bone blade pierced the ground, and the entire ruins surged like waves.
Casal planted his White Tiger Blade firmly in the ground, the blade sparking as it sliced through the sandstorm: "Russell! Do you remember how the prairie wolf pack hunted giant beasts?"
"Hold on to the throat until death." Russell spat out blood and foam, golden arcs of electricity condensing into pinpoints of light deep within his pupils.
Kelion struck first. The Raven Guard's sniper bullets weren't fired at the enemy, but rather shattered the Blackstone Obelisk high above the ruins—the imprisoned warp energy poured down like a burst dam. Mal'Kahn's Chaos Shield instantly overloaded, and his eight bone blades convulsed in the turbulent energy flow.
"Now!" Casal transformed into a white blur, his White Tiger Blade piercing the blasphemous core in Malkahn's chest. The blade couldn't withstand the chaotic energy and shattered inch by inch, but the last fragment of its edge had already penetrated flesh and blood.
Russell's entrenching tool followed closely. The golden arcs of electricity were no longer a shield, but transformed into a drill-like spiraling storm, pouring into the enemy's body through the blade: "This move is called—Psionic Meat Grinder!"
Amidst Mal'Kahn's screams, Kelion's chainsword pierced his spine from behind. The Raven Commander's voice remained as calm as a machine: "Tactical log update: Chaos Lord Mal'Kahn, kill confirmed."
As all three weapons were drawn simultaneously, Malkarn's mangled body was already carbonized in golden arcs of electricity. Arya's psionic barrier caught the exhausted Russell, and the surviving Word Bearers in the distance began to flee.
Casal picked up the broken White Tiger Blade, the white wolf totem on the hilt stained with black blood: "It's time to clean up the battlefield."
A data chip popped out of Kyleon's Raven shoulder armor: "According to Article 19 of the Stealth Protocol, you have 72 hours to decide whether to sign the confidentiality agreement."
Russell slumped on the ruins, his Blooddrinker entrenching tool humming as it was driven into the scorched earth. He gazed at the dissipating warp storm on the horizon and suddenly smiled.
