Chapter 215 Discovery of the Portal
Chapter 215 Discovery of the Portal
Deep beneath the seventh nest city, in the sewage layer
Russell's fingers gently traced the barrel of the "Fire Kirin," the enhanced laser gun gleaming faintly in the dim sewer. He could feel the rhythm of energy flowing within the weapon, like it was breathing.
"Cultist gathering detected 300 meters ahead." A red dot flashed on Leos's tactical tablet. "Number... By the Emperor, at least 500!"
Company Commander Aksu's voice came through the communicator: "Russell, this time I'm putting you in the lead. Let's see how powerful your new toy is."
Russell's lips curled into a slight smile as he adjusted his goggles. "With pleasure."
When the first cultist appeared in the scope, "Fire Kirin" was already fully charged. Russell pulled the trigger, and a laser beam, more concentrated than usual, pierced the target's head, its remaining force piercing through the three enemies behind it.
[System Notification: Kill 4 cultists, gain +4 proficiency]
"Beautiful!" the brutal man cheered from behind. "Get one for me too!"
Russell ignored the Oglins' shouts and quickly moved to find the best firing angle. The Fire Kirin's range advantage was on full display here; the cultists fell before they even saw the enemy.

By the time the cultists finally discovered the source of the attack, they had already lost nearly a hundred men. They frantically rushed towards Russell's position, only to be met with a barrage of bombardment from the Space Marines.
Just when the situation seemed to be turning in one direction, the sewage pipe suddenly burst. A chaotic egg, nearly four meters tall, crawled out of the sewage, its body covered with distorted human faces.
“Let me do it!” Russell put away the “Fire Kirin” and drew the “Blood Drinker”.
The tentacles of the Chaos Egg whistled towards him, but Russell deftly dodged them. He could feel the entrenching tool yearning for battle, and the spirit bone coating hummed faintly.
The first strike cleaved open the Chaos Egg's abdomen, and dark red blood gushed out. But to Russell's surprise, the blood didn't fall to the ground; instead, it was absorbed by the "Blood Drinker." The entrenching tool's spirit bone coating became even brighter, yet its weight seemed to have lessened.
[System Notification: Blood Drinker has absorbed chaotic energy, sharpness increased by 5%]
The Chaos Egg let out a painful howl, its human face screaming simultaneously. But Russell had found his rhythm, circling the monster like a waltz, tearing away chunks of flesh with each attack.
With a final strike, Russell leaped up and slashed down. The Blood Drinker emitted a dazzling red light, splitting the Chaos Egg in two.
[System notification: Defeating the Chaos Egg grants +10 proficiency]
As the group continued forward, Russell checked the system interface:
Fire Kirin Proficiency: /
[Absorption rate among blood drinkers: 12%]
He knew that the battle to quell the rebellion was far from over. But with each step forward, they were one step closer to victory.
The Seventh Nest City Underground
Russell leaned against the rusty pipes, his breath forming a white mist inside his gas mask. The "Fire Kirin's" energy indicator showed 67% remaining, and the "Blood Drinker's" spirit bone coating pulsed faintly in the darkness.
“This isn’t right,” Leos said, examining the tactical tablet. “We’ve passed this intersection three times already.”
Company Commander Aksu gripped his Thunder Hammer tightly: "It's Harken's trick. He's using subspace energy to distort the spatial structure here."
Suddenly, a piercing static crackled through the communicator, followed by Harken's chilling voice: "Like my maze, little mice? Let me give you some fun."
A sewage pipe suddenly burst, and three Chaos Eggs crawled out of the wastewater. But unlike before, these monsters were larger, and their faces were more distorted. Worse still, a squadron of Chaos Space Marines from the Black Legion followed behind them.
"Prepare for battle!" Aksu roared, and his Thunder Hammer erupted with dazzling arcs of electricity.
Russell immediately switched tactics. He first used "Fire Kirin" to target the Chaos Egg's weak points, then switched to "Blood Drinker" for melee combat when the enemy got close. Laser beams traced deadly trajectories in the darkness, each strike hitting its target precisely.
[System Notification: Defeat 3 Chaos Eggs, gain Proficiency +30]
[Blood Drinkers absorb chaotic energy, sharpness +15%]
But the real threat comes from the Chaos Space Marines. Their power swords are infused with warp energy, tearing tiny cracks in reality with every strike.
"Russell, to the left!" Brutal suddenly threw out a Storm Shield, shielding Russell from a fatal blow. The Oglin then charged into the enemy ranks, swinging his power hammer with tremendous force.
After the battle, the team took a short rest. Russell checked the system interface:
Fire Kirin Proficiency: /
[Absorption rate among blood drinkers: 27%]
“We need to find the portal,” Aksu said, pointing to the energy readings on the tactical tablet. “These warp fluctuations are strongest in the northeast.”
The group continued onward, but Harken's traps were endless. Sometimes it was a sudden collapse of the ground, sometimes a demonic host lurking in the shadows. The most dangerous time, they nearly walked into a void rift disguised as a passage.
After hours of exploration, they finally located the portal. It was a massive circular hall, with a vortex of flesh and metal floating in its center. A continuous stream of Chaos forces was pouring out of the vortex.
“By the Emperor…” Leos gasped, “This is worse than we imagined.”
Russell noticed four energy nodes around the portal, each maintained by a Chaos Wizard. Worse still, Harken's holographic projection suddenly appeared in the center of the hall.
“Welcome to my party,” the Headhunter grinned maliciously. “I hope you enjoy the surprise I’ve prepared.”
As he spoke, a colossal object emerged from the portal—a Titan corrupted by the warp.
The Titans were undoubtedly invincible to everyone, whether it was the Astragalians or the Space Marines, but thankfully they brought with them the Dreadnought this time.
Looking at the corrupted Titan Russell with a serious expression, he glanced at Aksu and said, "Company Commander, what should we do?"
"The warp portal must be closed, or we will never be able to quell this rebellion!" Aksu said firmly.
"In that case, we have no choice but to fight to the death!"
"Roar!" Oglin was the first to charge forward with brutality.
"Come back!" Aksu exclaimed, not expecting the Oglin man to be so reckless.
