Chapter 1313 - 1308: Old Geezer
Chapter 1313 - 1308: Old Geezer
"Mm."
Facing Vulture’s invitation, Qin Hao agreed without the slightest hesitation.
He’d been planning to go to the Commander anyway to demand some "compensation". Since he happened to be free today, might as well go.
"Please."
Captain Ma’s face lit up with joy as he made a gesture of invitation.
After Qin Hao nodded, he shot a look at Xinmu and Ah Sang, then was the first to step out of the formation, hands clasped behind his back, walking out with an easy, carefree swagger.
Watching Qin Hao and the others leave, everyone on-site was both excited and delighted.
But since Captain Ma was still there, no one dared to speak up.
"Captain Ma..."
The first to speak was Colonel Xu. His expression was extremely uneasy; he wanted to say a couple of words in his own defense.
Captain Ma didn’t give him the chance. Cutting him off, he said, "The Commander already knows about this. Xu Changqing, you’re stripped of your post for disrupting discipline and colluding with foreign spies. As for the rest of the punishment, you can wait to hear from Headquarters yourself!"
With that, as Colonel Xu stood there dumbfounded, he followed after Qin Hao’s departing back.
Just a few seconds after Captain Ma led the team away, a wave of heated discussion erupted on-site.
"Damn! We really saw a blockbuster drama today!"
"I thought that handsome guy was screwed! Never thought the plot would twist like that!"
"Looking at it now, that handsome guy is seriously badass! It’s one thing that he plays piano like a god, turns out he’s also a boss in the military!"
"Awesome! Truly awesome! Too bad I didn’t get the handsome guy’s contact info."
"You, asking for his contact info? Have you even looked in a mirror?"
Amidst the lively chatter, Colonel Xu’s face turned deathly pale, not a hint of blood.
It’s over. Completely over.
He’d struggled for half his life and finally clawed his way up to become an officer.
And today he’d lost it all in one shot!
Beside him, Mitsui and the others were still breathing hard, chest heaving, burning with indignation at the humiliation they’d suffered.
"Baka!"
In a fit of rage, Mitsui slapped off a medical staffer’s mask and roared, "This isn’t over! I’m going to inform the Foreign Ministry! I’m going to lodge a protest against Huaxia!"
...
The extended Hongqi sedan cruised steadily down the road.
In the backseat, Qin Hao sat in the middle, with Ah Sang and Vini Jones on either side.
Xinmu sat opposite, drinking the special-supply Moutai on the table.
"Good liquor! This stuff is really good!"
Xinmu had no idea how many pots he’d already had. He was obviously tipsy. "Boss, why is the gap between people so damn big? We were still cursing the military, and you quietly went and became the boss of the military..."
Qin Hao gave a casual shrug. "Blame me for being too outstanding. I’ll keep a lower profile next time."
"Pfft!"
Ah Sang let out a coquettish giggle.
Xinmu wailed, "Boss, pretending to be badass to your level is just dry as hell!"
At this moment, Colonel Xu, who was driving in front, said, "We’re here."
Qin Hao looked out the window and realized that this so-called "place" wasn’t a military district at all, but a three-story apartment building.
"Let’s go."
Vini Jones was the first to open the door and step out.
"Brother..."
Ah Sang looked at Qin Hao with reluctant eyes.
"You go stay at Sister Vini’s place first. I’ll come over after I’m done," Qin Hao promised.
He had no choice. He was going to negotiate with the Commander; taking Ah Sang and Xinmu along would be inconvenient.
"Okay then. Bye, Brother!" Ah Sang wasn’t the type of girl who liked to make a fuss. Reluctantly, she got out of the car, waved, watched the Hongqi sedan drive off into the distance, then finally went into the apartment building with Vini Jones.
Inside the car, Qin Hao watched the scenery outside the window, silent all the way.
The military’s office was set up on a secluded, flat stretch of land.
When the car came to a stop, Qin Hao got out and was greeted by a scene brimming with killing intent.
"Please come with me."
Led by Vulture, Qin Hao entered a heavily guarded building. They went upstairs, walked down a dim corridor, and arrived at the door of an office.
Vulture stopped and said respectfully, "The Commander is inside. Please go in."
Qin Hao said nothing, hands behind his back as he walked up to the door.
Creak!
The door was pushed open by Vulture, and Qin Hao stepped inside.
Bang.
As the door softly closed, what Qin Hao saw was a rather classical-style office.
The furnishings around were very simple. In the central office chair sat an old man with graying hair—the Commander.
Compared to last time, the Commander seemed older. There were more wrinkles, and his hair was even whiter.
It was obvious that killing his own darling Hu Fei hadn’t been an easy thing.
"You really do like changing offices, don’t you."
Qin Hao sat himself down opposite the Commander as if he owned the place, patted his thigh, and spoke.
"The old office was unlucky."
The Commander smiled faintly, though the smile was a bit forced. "Night Emperor, Admiral Qin, Qin Hao—which form of address do you prefer?"
"As long as it’s not ’Admiral’, I’m fine with anything," Qin Hao said with a faint smile. "After all, I’m not the vain type who enjoys hearing people chant titles like ’Sir’, ’Commander’, ’General’ all day long."
Even though he’d just been mocked, the Commander didn’t get angry. He only gave a self-deprecating smile. "Indeed, you’re at the age of hot blood and glory, while we old bones already have half a foot in the grave. We’re not the same."
Qin Hao didn’t play along. Instead, his expression turned cold. "Alright, old man, I don’t have time to waste words with you. Let’s cut to the chase."
The Commander’s face stiffened slightly.
He hadn’t expected Qin Hao to be so unyielding, not even willing to go through the motions.
Sure, he’d wronged Qin Hao, but did the kid really have to go this far?
After all, he held the rank of general too!
"What, you not convinced?" Qin Hao’s indifferent words made the Commander’s expression return to calm.
He said, "Finishing early is fine too. I’m still planning to go have some tea afterward."
As he spoke, he opened the drawer in front of him, took out a medal, and tossed it in front of Qin Hao. "This is proof of your military rank."
Qin Hao fixed his gaze on the insignia, his heart as calm as still water.
A general’s rank would be something others dreamed of.
To him, it was just a pretty decoration.
Casually picking up the insignia, Qin Hao dug at his ear and said, "And what else?"
"What else?" The Commander frowned. "What else do I owe you?"
Qin Hao smiled, but however you looked at it, it was laced with mockery.
The Commander couldn’t hold it in anymore. Slapping his hand on the table, he stood up. "Qin Hao, get this straight. Even if you’re a general now, our ranks are the same. You don’t have what it takes to lord it over me!"
Hearing this, Qin Hao laughed. After he finished laughing, his face cooled again. "Old bastard, get this straight. I got this insignia not because you rewarded me, but because it was rightfully mine. So don’t lecture me in that superior tone of yours. Otherwise, I don’t mind slapping you twice."
"You wouldn’t dare!"
The Commander pointed at Qin Hao, shaking with rage.
Qin Hao didn’t say a word, just sneered.
In an instant, the Commander felt a chill in his body and soul. His fury vanished completely, leaving only shock and helplessness.
He knew Qin Hao really would dare to do it.
