Chapter 245 Entering a Black Space
Chapter 245 Entering a Black Space
After Fang Cheng's wound healed, he and his companions set off for the kitchen to start a fire.
The group lined up in order of whether they had a light or not, and Fang Cheng stood at the front, holding two jars. Bai Xingyi held a jar in one hand and had the other hand on Fang Cheng's shoulder. Li Hongying behind her did the same.
Gu Huayang and Wang Jianhua each carried a basin of water, with Gu Huayang walking in front of Wang Jianhua and Li Hongying behind. The five of them lined up like this and walked all the way to the kitchen.
It was already late at night, and there were far fewer patrolling puppets, and hardly anyone was in the kitchen.
The group piled the firewood high, then found all the oil they could find in the kitchen and poured it into every corner of the kitchen.
Fang Cheng turned on his lamp, picked up a small wooden stick about the thickness of his thumb, inserted it into the lamp, and lit it.
Then, Fang Cheng threw the lit stick onto the tall pile of firewood.
The woodpile burst into flames instantly, the dazzling fire dancing wildly, and the flying sparks falling onto the oil-soaked floor, creating a lively dance for the raging fire in the center.
Another gust of wind added to the excitement of the blazing fire, and the group realized that the kitchen was doomed. So, led by Wang Jianhua, they headed towards the road leading away from the tea shop.
"Dong—dong—dong—dong—" The clock struck four. Fang Cheng looked up at the sky, which was already beginning to lighten. A faint red glow was appearing on the horizon, dispelling the dark blue of the night.
The group didn't stop for a moment, dodging as they ran after Wang Jianhua toward the outside of the tea shop.
Halfway through the run, just when they thought they were about to escape, someone suddenly jumped out, grabbed a knife, and stabbed at Wang Jianhua, who was running in front.
Wang Jianhua was startled, but Gu Huayang, who was behind him, pulled him back, allowing him to avoid being stabbed.
Everyone was still in shock. Gu Huayang was the first to come to his senses, and he looked warily at the uninvited guest with the knife.
"Chen Yi'an, what exactly are you trying to do?" Gu Huayang frowned as he looked at Chen Yi'an.
Chen Yi'an looked much more disheveled than Fang Cheng had seen him before—perhaps because of his struggle with the puppet servant, he had many wounds on his body, especially a scratch on his face; his clothes were tattered, with many holes that went all the way to the bottom, showing that he had really fought a very fierce battle.
Fang Cheng felt that this might not be something left behind by Chen Yi'an's struggle with the puppet servant.
Chen Yi'an's eyes were bloodshot, with visible red veins around the whites of his eyes. His eyes looked unusually large, as if he had lost his eyelids. He was still gripping the knife tightly in his hand, his knuckles white from the force.
Chen Yi'an did not answer Gu Huayang's question. At this moment, he seemed to have gone mad. He raised his knife again and charged at Gu Huayang, shouting, "I'm going to kill you all! I'm going to kill you all! Only by killing you can Fu Qu and I leave here!"
"Isn't now the perfect opportunity?!"
Gu Huayang dodged Chen Yi'an's attack, and the others also moved away.
Fang Cheng sensed that Chen Yi'an was acting strangely. Although he knew that Chen Yi'an held different views from those they supported, he had always wanted to kill them.
But Chen Yi'an now seemed to have lost his mind, as if he had suffered some tremendous shock; he was extremely eager to complete his mission of killing them.
"Oh dear, this is... Fu Qu has awakened his memories of his past life and has already reunited with the male lead?" Amidst the chaos, Fang Cheng suddenly heard such a voice, which sounded like her little golden finger figure with braided hair.
Before Fangcheng could react to what the little person with braided pigtails meant, he heard the little person with pink hair in pigtails say, "Judging by the time, it is indeed about time."
“No wonder he’s gone mad and is killing people now,” the guy with the big braid spoke up again. “This kid must be desperate. He’s grasping at straws, trying to complete the mission in this instance world as soon as possible so he can bring Fu Qu back to the real world and get her back.”
"Wow, impressive. He couldn't beat the boss one-on-one, so instead of asking for help, he chose to kill the person who could help him the most. Really, really." Lu Renkui shook his head.
"Fortunately, the mission indicates they're almost finished. As long as Fang Cheng and the others can evade Chen Yi'an's attack, things will be simple." System WQBYRZM glanced at the mission log, which hadn't been opened in a long time.
In the end, Chen Yi'an was defeated because he was outnumbered. Bai Xingyi kicked Chen Yi'an to the ground, stepped on Chen Yi'an's neck, and smashed the jar in his hand hard on Chen Yi'an's head.
Chen Yi'an was struggling at first, but stopped moving after Bai Xingyi hit her on the head with a jar; she probably passed out.
"They're really relentless. How did this kid know we were going to take this route?" Bai Xingyi stomped on Chen Yi'an twice to make sure he wouldn't get up again before picking up the jar, retracting his foot, and continuing to run forward with the main group.
"Who knows? Let's run! We've wasted a lot of time because of him." Gu Huayang said as he held a basin of water in his hand, occasionally splashing it back to extinguish the flames that were leaping up from all around.
"Don't worry, we'll be there soon," Wang Jianhua said. "Go forward, just a few more steps, I remember, it's right here... Wait a minute, why is there no path?"
Wang Jianhua stopped in his tracks, and the others behind him also stopped. They all stared in disbelief at the road that had vanished into thin air.
At the end of the road was only a black space. It drifted in from behind, and the flickering sparks floated into that black space and disappeared in an instant.
"How...how did it become like this?" Wang Jianhua could hardly believe what he was seeing. "I remember this was a main street."
“That’s quite strange,” Li Hongying said, frowning as she occasionally sprinkled water from her jar to extinguish the flames that followed. “It used to be a main street, but now it’s turned black.”
“That’s right, logically speaking, it should be my work time.” Wang Jianhua splashed water with a basin. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Fang Cheng didn't say anything, he just stared at the black space, thinking about what he had read in the stack of diaries: "No matter what you encounter ahead, just keep running towards home."
Seeing that Fang Cheng was still staring at the black space and didn't react to the approaching flames, Bai Xingyi assumed that Fang Cheng was blaming himself for finding the wrong clue, so he comforted him, "Fang Cheng, don't think too much about it. Chen Yi'an and the others are definitely on the wrong path. Fang Cheng, don't worry about it. We still have time to change things. Fang Cheng, Fang Cheng? Why are you running towards that space! Fang Cheng!"
Bai Xingyi's exclamation startled the others, and they all turned to look in Bai Xingyi's direction, and then in the direction Bai Xingyi was looking—that was the direction of the equation.
Then, to everyone's horror, Fang Cheng rushed toward that black space.
