Spy Wars: Get the Predator equipment at the beginning

Chapter 979 Looking for someone

Chapter 979 Looking for someone

Of course, design drawings are just drawings. Without the corresponding technology and equipment, you can't build the large-caliber artillery and heavy tanks shown on the drawings.

For example, a heavy tank mainly consists of a weapon system, a propulsion system, a protection system, a communication system, electrical equipment, special equipment, and other devices. Each component determines the combat performance of this weapon.

It is by no means something that can be made with just a few design blueprints. The emergence of a weapon is a testament to the strength of the entire military-industrial complex, and it is only through the cooperation of various other factories that an arsenal can produce it.

To be honest, Zhang Yunhe knew that his men did not yet have the capability to manufacture large-caliber artillery, heavy tanks, aircraft, and ships.

However, design blueprints are the first hurdle in the manufacture of a weapon; no weapon is ever made without prior design and drawing.

Although Zhang Yunhe cannot currently manufacture large-caliber artillery and heavy tanks, having the design blueprints for these weapons can provide reference and guidance for his research and development personnel.

Two hours later, James returned to the hotel, completely unaware of what was happening in the next room.

The next morning, the two had breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

James asked, "What are your plans next?"

“I have no other plans. I’m going to Europe this afternoon!” Zhang Yunhe said while eating a sandwich.

"Leaving this afternoon? By plane or by cruise ship?" James asked.

Zhang Yunhe turned his head and asked in return, "I've heard that the Germans are waging unrestricted submarine warfare. There are German submarines everywhere under the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. Would you dare to take a cruise ship with them?"

James shrugged. "Okay, what time is your flight this afternoon?"

"At two o'clock, we'll spend the night in Newfoundland, then transfer to Greenland tomorrow morning, and then fly from Greenland to England," Zhang Yunhe said.

This air passenger route has been in operation for three years. It was first opened by British Imperial Airlines. Due to the limitations of aircraft speed and range at that time, the entire flight could only be completed by transiting through Greenland and Newfoundland.

While there have been instances of people flying across the Atlantic before, these were not regular commercial passenger flights.

Zhang Yunhe continued, "You should return to Los Angeles as soon as possible. We need you to receive the weapons we purchased this time. I'll find someone to transport them after I return from Europe!"

James replied, "I was just about to tell you that I'm leaving for Los Angeles after breakfast, so I won't be able to see you off at the airport this afternoon!"

Zhang Yunhe nodded and casually asked, "By the way, which Harvard research group did you mention last time that developed the flamethrowers and fuel produced by Edgewood Arsenal?"

"What's wrong with Professor Levitt and his research team?" James replied and asked.

"Nothing, just asking!"

At 9 a.m., Zhang Yunhe saw James off at the airport as he boarded a flight back to Los Angeles, and soon after, he arrived in Cambridge.

At noon at Harvard University, many students and teachers came out of the school. Some walked in groups of three or five, some rode bicycles at high speed, and some drove cars.

Standing across the street, Zhang Yunhe took one last drag of his cigarette, threw down the butt, crossed the street, and entered the school, brushing past some students and teachers.

A short while later, Zhang Yunhe arrived at the school's administration building following the roadside signs.

He found the faculty and staff office on the wall of the first floor of the administration building using the floor index.

The office was already closed for the day, and there was no one in the office; the door was locked.

This was no problem for Zhang Yunhe. He looked around to make sure no one was around, then took out a thin wire, inserted it into the keyhole, fiddled with it for a few moments, and quickly opened the door.

He went in, closed the door, and scanned the office before his gaze quickly settled on a row of filing cabinets against the wall.

The filing cabinet had many drawers, each labeled with the name of a department. His gaze fell on the drawer labeled "Chemistry Department".

He guessed that the Professor Levitt James mentioned was probably a professor in the chemistry department, since research on new fuels for flamethrowers falls under the scope of chemical research.

He walked over, opened the drawer, took out a stack of file folders, rummaged through them, and sure enough, found a file folder with "Levitt" on it.

Zhang Yunhe opened the file bag and took out several files. The personal file contained a photo of a middle-aged man, and Levitt's personal information, including his date of birth, home address, contact information, education, and professional title…

He skimmed through the information and quickly memorized all the contents of the personal file.

He stuffed the documents into a file bag, then put the file bag back in the drawer untouched. After closing the drawer, he walked to a desk, picked up the phone on the desk, and dialed the home phone number in the file.

"Beep—beep—Hello?" A woman's voice came through the phone.

Zhang Yunhe said calmly, "Mrs. Levitt?"

"It's me, you?"

Zhang Yunhe said, "I'm from the faculty and staff office. There's a package for Professor Levitt here. I called his office but he wasn't there. I'm going out now, so I thought I'd deliver it to his home. What's your address?"

“Oh, he usually doesn’t go home for lunch. He’s probably still in the lab right now. I feel really bad that you have to bring it to my house. Why don’t you call his office again this afternoon and have him pick it up from your place after get off work?” Mrs. Levitt said on the phone.

Zhang Yunhe said, "It's alright, it's on the way. Is your home still at 1445 Mary Street?"

"I've changed my address; I'm now at 3521 Rose Street!"

"Ok!"

After hanging up the phone, Zhang Yunhe walked to the door and listened to the sounds in the corridor outside. Only when he felt that no one was around did he open the door and go out.

Ten minutes later, he arrived at the foot of the chemistry department's laboratory building.

The laboratory building was very quiet. Zhang Yunhe searched the entire building, from top to bottom. There were still people working in a few laboratories, but he only found Levitt's laboratory and did not find Levitt himself.

After searching the laboratory without finding any experimental data, Zhang Yunhe then went to Levitt's office. The office contained many books, documents, and some personal belongings, but there were no research materials, let alone research materials on the fuel used in flamethrowers.

"Damn it, where did Levitt put the experimental data on the fuel for the flamethrower?" Zhang Yunhe searched everywhere in his office, but couldn't find it anywhere.
