Chapter 1020 Hijacking

Chapter 1020 Hijacking

A small fishing village on the south bank of the Yangtze River estuary.

Several sentries were hidden outside the courtyard of a house, and several armed guards stood at the gate and inside the courtyard.

Inside the main house, the women chattered incessantly, and a dozen or twenty rattan suitcases were placed against the wall.

While Ai Cao was feeding the baby, Zhang Yunhe sat in a grand chair, leisurely drinking tea.

Just then, the roar of a car engine came from outside the yard, followed by the screech of brakes, and then the sound of footsteps.

"Sir, Captain Chen is back!" a guard reported as he entered the main room.

Zhang Yunhe looked up and saw three young men in training uniforms walking briskly into the main room.

"Sir, the French cargo ship has departed and will arrive here in at most an hour!" Captain Chen, the leader, walked in and saluted.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yunhe said, "Tell the brothers to get ready. We'll start the operation as soon as the French goods arrive!"

"We must stop the cargo ship as quickly as possible!"

"Yes, sir!" Captain Chen saluted and turned to leave with his team members.

After a while, Zhang Yunhe was still worried and decided to go and check it out himself, just in case the operation didn't go smoothly, he could step in to fix it.

He stood up and said to Ai Cao and the women, "You all stay here and don't wander around. I'll go check on things!"

After saying that, he left two people behind and took the remaining three people to follow Captain Chen and the others towards the sea.

Captain Chen only brought five men with him. Although they were all fully armed, their numbers were still small, and the outcome of hijacking a cargo ship with armed protection was still uncertain.

Shortly after the team leader and his men arrived at the seaside, while they were testing the engines of three small steamships, Zhang Yunhe arrived.

"Sir, what brings you here?" the team leader asked.

Zhang Yunhe said, "I was worried that you few people wouldn't be able to handle this, so I brought some people to help you!"

Captain Chen quickly said, "But sir, you are responsible for the safety of 1.8 million people in Hong Kong. If anything were to happen to you, I would not be able to face the public!"

Zhang Yunhe waved his hand and said, "I've also crawled out of danger, how can I be so delicate?"

"Alright, now that I'm here, I've decided to work with you! Can we start these three small steamships now?"

Captain Chen replied, "I just tested them one by one, and they all start normally!"

Zhang Yunhe nodded: "Alright, leave two people here to keep watch. If you spot the French cargo ship, report it immediately. The rest of you, take shelter in a leeward spot and rest, and make sure you stay warm!"

Captain Chen immediately called out the names of two people and asked them to stay behind to keep watch, while the others went to the shacks at the back to take shelter and rest.

Inside the shack, Zhang Yunhe saw Captain Chen and his team inspecting weapons, equipment, and ammunition.

He went inside and asked, "Besides weapons and ammunition, what other equipment have you prepared?"

The team leader took out some equipment and said, "In addition to the cold-weather suits and diving suits, we have also prepared crossbows, hooks, and climbing rope ladders!"

The French cargo ship arrived much faster than expected. When a 10,000-ton cargo ship flying the Franchise flag appeared on the distant water, Zhang Yunhe and his guards began their operation.

"Leave one person here. Once we have successfully taken control of the cargo ship, we will signal with flags. The person left here will immediately go back and inform them to come and board the ship," Zhang Yunhe instructed.

Captain Chen designated one person to stay behind to make contact, while the rest split into three groups and boarded three small steamships.

"Rush over there at top speed, let's go!" Zhang Yunhe shouted.

Three small steamships roared and sped toward the 10,000-ton cargo ship sailing on the sea.

"My dear, we are about to leave this country where we have lived for twenty years. It's so hard to leave!" A French noblewoman standing on the ship's railing said with a sigh as she watched the land recede into the distance.

A French gentleman in a long wool coat walked over and stood beside her, saying, "We have no choice but to leave due to the circumstances."

"Perhaps we'll have a chance to come back here someday, my dear. Don't be sad. Isn't it always been your wish to return to your hometown, which you've been away from for so many years?"

“Yes, I shouldn’t be so sad. I should be happy that we can finally go home!” the lady said.

At this moment, the French gentleman's expression suddenly changed, and he pointed to the sea in the direction of the land and shouted, "What's that?"

The lady blinked and asked in confusion, "Why are three small steamships heading towards our cargo ship?"

"My God, it's pirates, it must be pirates! Melissa, quickly go and call the captain and crew over, and tell them to bring their weapons!" the French gentleman shouted.

"Oh, oh!" The lady finally realized what was happening, her face pale as she lifted her skirt and ran towards the captain's cabin.

Before long, a dozen or so crew members, led by Captain Fabio, ran over.

"Guys, the pirates are charging! Prepare for battle!" Captain Fabio gave the order immediately after observing the situation.

Of the eight crew members on board, five carried pistols and only three carried rifles.

"Captain, we don't have enough firepower! The pirates have three ships and 11 men, and they all look like they're carrying rifles!" a crew member shouted after observing the situation.

The captain immediately told the crew, "You hold the line, I'll go and get the armed passengers to join the fight!"

At this moment, Zhang Yunhe had already led his men to sail to the cargo ship.

The sea was turbulent, and the three small steamers were bobbing up and down in the waves, looking as if they could capsize at any moment.

Captain Chen squatted at the bow of the boat and shouted, "Turn the boat sideways, machine gun cover!"

"The first group prepares crossbows and climbing ropes."

"Groups two and three, prepare to climb."

"Grenadier, get ready!"

"Da da da..." The machine gun on the small central wheel opened fire.

Several of the foreign crew members who were lying on the side of the cargo ship were shot dead on the spot, and the other foreign crew members were so frightened that they immediately pulled their heads and bodies back.

The machine gunner on the small steamer was a machine gun expert, using single shots, double shots, and triple shots in perfect coordination, keeping the crew on the cargo ship from showing their faces.

"Grenadier, fire the grenades!" Captain Chen promptly issued the order.

With a "thump," a grenade was launched, soaring into the sky before landing on the deck.

With a deafening roar, the grenade exploded, and as the explosion flashed, the four foreign ships were swept off the deck by the blast wave and plunged into the icy sea.

"Machine guns, continue to provide cover! First group, fire crossbow bolts!" Captain Chen shouted the order.

With a series of "whoosh" sounds, three plum blossom hooks attached to ropes were launched and landed on the deck. After the ropes were straightened, the plum blossom hooks snagged on the ship's railing.

"Second and third groups, go up!" Captain Chen gave the order again. Two team members grabbed the rope and climbed up with great agility. The next two quickly climbed up after them.
