Chapter 172 Head-stealing
Chapter 172 Head-stealing
After queuing for a few minutes, Su Rui was teleported into the battlefield.
Frost Canyon is a small battlefield that can accommodate fifty people competing at the same time. The battlefield is divided into two factions, with a maximum of twenty-five players in each faction.
After entering the battlefield, Su Rui was assigned to the blue team. He could see from the statistics panel that the blue team currently had twenty players, which was not a full team, while the red team had twenty-two players, which was also not a full team.
"Come on!" Su Rui took a deep breath. He didn't care much about the outcome of the battle. He only had one purpose in coming to the battlefield—to reap kills!
Su Rui still needs to kill over six hundred people to complete the racial mission before he can meet Grand Duke Mokawi. So what he needs to do now is kill as many people as possible on the battlefield and steal as many kills as possible!
"Beep beep beep..." About thirty seconds after Su Rui entered the battlefield, the alarm sounded, which meant that the battle was about to begin.
The map of Frost Canyon is very simple. The two ends of the map are the bases of the red and blue teams, and there are three roads leading to the bases. There are also some resource points on both sides of these three roads. Players can obtain buffs to strengthen themselves by killing monsters or occupying resource points.
According to the rules of Frost Canyon, if either player rushes into the opponent's base, takes the opponent's energy core, and transports it back to their own base, they score one point. The first side to reach three points wins.
Once a player obtains the opponent's energy core, their location will be exposed on the minimap of all players on both sides. The opposing players will definitely try to intercept them, and the players on their own side will have to do everything they can to protect them.
The player holding the energy core cannot trade it to others. The energy core will only drop when the player is killed. The dropped core can be picked up. If it is picked up by an enemy player, that player will take over and be marked on the minimap. The enemy player will then need to transport the core back to their base to earn points.
If a core drops in the wild and is picked up by one of your own players, it will teleport them directly back to their own base.
Logically, this battlefield should have someone guarding the base, someone attacking, and someone responsible for intercepting cores that might be stolen. The tactics would be quite complex, but none of that mattered to Su Rui. He didn't care about the score or winning or losing; all he wanted to do now was kill.
"Ding!" With a soft sound, the gate to the lair opened, and at the same time, the first energy core was refreshed inside the lair.
The moment the gate to the enemy's lair opened, Su Rui rushed out, heading straight for the middle path, the shortest route to the enemy's lair.
Between the two sides' strongholds was a large bridge. The bridge was not very fast, making it a strategically important and impregnable pass. As for the roads on both sides, Su Rui had not been there and was not very clear about the specifics.
"They're here!" About ten seconds later, a large number of red names appeared in the distance. Su Rui knew that players from another city were rushing over.
"Waaaah..." As the parasitic tendency developed, several players with red names disappeared. Su Rui knew that the rogue players had activated stealth.
Whether on the battlefield or in open-world PvP, thieves, who can become invisible, always have the upper hand. This time is no exception. Although Su Rui's level is still relatively high, if several thieves get close, a series of control effects would be enough to kill Su Rui instantly.
Although Su Rui had good equipment and a lot of health, cloth armor classes were still too fragile. Faced with high-burst rogue classes, Su Rui chose to retreat.
Fortunately, Su Rui didn't come alone; there were other players behind him. After Su Rui stopped, they rushed forward.
On the bridge, the two groups of thieves brushed past each other. They were both in stealth mode and could not see each other. Although they could sense each other's general location, neither of them wasted too much time on the other. After all, if they showed themselves at this time, they would most likely be targeted by ranged players behind them.
While thieves possess high burst damage and strong control abilities, they are still quite fragile. If they are targeted and focused by ranged attacks, they will be instantly killed.
After the two groups of thieves passed each other, they rushed towards the back row of the opposing team. At this time, because the teams were randomly matched, the warrior players on both the red and blue sides did not have much awareness of protecting the back row. They followed the thieves and charged forward, engaging in fierce combat with the opposing warriors.
"Swish swish swish..." The thieves who had cut to the back row of the enemy made their moves. After selecting their favorite cloth-armored targets, they launched surprise attacks and began to swing their blades indiscriminately.
Because Su Rui was positioned relatively far back, he wasn't targeted by the thieves in front of him. After all, some mages and priests were positioned further forward, making them the thieves' primary targets.
"Shadow Bolt!" Su Rui began casting the spell!
-962!
"Ding! You have killed XXXX, gaining 12 experience points and 10 honor points!"
Because the thief in front of him had already been reduced to half health by two mages using instant-cast spells, Su Rui took him down with a single Shadow Bolt!
"Not bad! There are even experience points!" Su Rui smiled. Although killing people didn't give as many experience points as killing monsters, it was better than nothing.
"Shhhhh!"
Having tasted success, Su Rui began to constantly cast Shadow Bolt. Since his Shadow Bolt could be cast while moving, it gave him a significant advantage in PvP. Because of its high spell damage, Su Rui didn't bother using Corruption, a damage-over-time skill, because his goal was to secure kills. If he applied DoTs, it would be easy for someone else to steal the kill.
The high-damage Shadow Bolt is still the most reliable. Basically, for non-warrior classes, as long as they are below half health, Su Rui can easily kill them with one Shadow Bolt.
Soon, all four thieves in front of him were killed, and Su Rui took the heads of three of them.
After dealing with the thieves, Su Rui joined other ranged attackers to fight the warrior-type players. They were currently engaged in a fierce battle in the middle of the two sides' formations, but the red team was already showing signs of defeat.
Because of Su Rui's super turret presence, the few thieves who switched in were quickly dealt with. With these thieves dead, no one interfered with the priests and mages' spellcasting. With the priests' healing, the warriors in front could stand longer, and after the mages were freed, their nickname of human turrets was well-deserved.
Conversely, the red team wasn't so lucky. They were also harassed by the blue team's thieves. Although the thieves were hit by the concentrated fire from a distance, they did a lot before being killed because the opposing team didn't have Su Rui's firepower.
