Chapter 9 Where is she?
Chapter 9 Where is she?
On the fifth floor, as Jiang Qin came out of the stairwell, she saw He Xu anxiously pacing around the elevator. "Assistant He!"
He Xu looked over and visibly relaxed, then quickly walked to Jiang Qin's side.
A few minutes later, Jiang Qin signed the informed consent form, and the unconscious Huo Sili was pushed away on a stretcher for examination.
As the doctor had just instructed, family members should accompany her at this time. Jiang Qin instinctively wanted to go with them, but the two medical staff that He Xu had found went ahead.
Just then, Jiang Qin, who was still a bit confused from her hurried journey, remembered what the doctor had said when she went to check if she was pregnant last night, and suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Horst was going to have a head CT scan, which can be quite dangerous for pregnant women and their fetuses.
She can't be 100% sure she's not pregnant right now, so going in like this would be playing with her life.
"I'm not feeling well, I need to use the restroom. Assistant He, could you please look after Mr. Huo for a while?"
As the stretcher was being pushed into the elevator, Jiang Qin turned to He Xu and said, "I'm about to go in."
He Xu looked down and met Jiang Qin's pale face and lips. Without thinking much, he nodded and followed her into the elevator.
Jiang Qin turned and headed towards the restroom.
That was just an excuse, but when I actually got there, I found myself feeling some discomfort in my lower abdomen again.
Jiang Qin closed the door and checked it. Finding no signs, she relaxed a bit, went out to wash her hands, and looked in the mirror, only to be startled by her own reflection.
The woman in the mirror was young and beautiful, but her face and lips were pale, especially her face, which was deathly white. There was a thin layer of sweat on her forehead, and her ears were an unnatural red. A few strands of hair clung to her cheeks, all of which showed how anxious and worried she had been just now.
Looking at her own face, Jiang Qin couldn't help but think of another face that resembled hers.
She frowned, tidied her hair with her clean hands, washed it again, and came out of the bathroom.
Huo Sili was wheeled into the ward. The situation was urgent, and given his status, the report came out quickly.
I received it in about half an hour. The doctor said it was a concussion, not serious, and not to worry too much, but I need to rest well.
"When will he wake up?" Jiang Qin asked.
Inside the consultation room, the doctor's eyes widened slightly upon hearing this, clearly somewhat surprised, but he quickly responded.
"Usually, someone in this condition will wake up in about 30 minutes. However, everyone's physical condition is different, so it's normal for there to be differences. Don't worry too much, just wait a little longer. Ask me if you have any questions."
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
Returning to his private room with the report, he found a nurse treating a minor injury on his arm.
The man was still unconscious, and the strong smell of iodine in the room overpowered the woody scent that originally clung to his body.
Looking at Huo Sili, whose face was noticeably paler and more haggard than before, Jiang Qin pursed her lips and stopped a short distance from the doorway.
At this moment, He Xu, who had temporarily dealt with his work and then gone to the pharmacy to get some ointment for minor abrasions, returned.
Jiang Qin looked away from He Xu and asked, "What happened just now? How did he get into a car accident?"
“This…” He Xu glanced at Jiang Qin, his expression somewhat complicated, and then explained the situation.
Jiang Qin frowned slightly upon hearing this. It turned out that Huo Sili had done this to save a little boy who was almost hit by a car in the middle of the road.
But no one knows what happened between the two, or maybe it was just a child's rebellious phase. After reaching a safe area, the little boy looked up at Huo Sili and suddenly pushed Huo Sili away forcefully.
Huo Sili was probably caught off guard, and this push sent Huo Sili out of the safe zone, just as a car drove by.
Fortunately, the driver braked in time; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"The world is going to the dogs! The light was green at the intersection, and that kid just turned around and ran away!" He Xu said, clearly indignant.
Jiang Qin glanced at him but didn't say anything, because just by looking at it, it really did sound like the story of the farmer and the snake.
Huo Sili was still asleep. Jiang Qin glanced at the time; it was already afternoon, time for her to start work.
Thinking about the company, Lin Xiaoyu felt it wasn't safe for her to be alone.
Jiang Qin looked at He Xu, about to say that she would go back to the company first.
Before he could utter a sound, the man on the hospital bed suddenly moved slightly.
Jiang Qin saw it first, her legs moved faster than her brain, and she instinctively walked closer, but before she even got to the bedside, she suddenly heard the man speak.
The voice was a little hoarse and hard to hear clearly; it sounded like someone was calling for Qinqin, but it also sounded like someone was calling for Qianqian.
Jiang Qin slowed her pace, suddenly remembering what had happened that morning.
Glass shattered in front of her, but Huo Sili asked Li Xueqian if she was injured.
A sudden, sharp pain shot through her heart, and Jiang Qin stopped abruptly, turning to look at He Xu who had followed her.
"Assistant He, I'll leave this to you. I have other things to attend to, so I'll head back to the company now."
Without waiting for He Xu to say anything, Jiang Qin turned and walked out.
When He Xu opened his mouth and turned around, Jiang Qin had already disappeared from sight.
……
"Mr. Huo, you're awake."
In the brightly lit room, the distinct smell of iodine filled the air. Huo Sili frowned slightly, propped himself up, and sat up, but He Xu was too late to help him.
He Xu reported on Huo Sili's physical condition, mentioning that he had been diagnosed with a concussion.
Huo Sili didn't seem to react much, only grunting in response. After a while, he asked, "Jiang Qin came by?"
“Yes,” He Xu said, “Madam, she…”
Suddenly, he saw Huo Sili frown, his dark eyes unfathomable, glancing at him.
He Xu's expression changed slightly, and he quickly corrected himself, "It was Secretary Jiang. Secretary Jiang came to sign the informed consent form, which allowed you to have the examination smoothly, Mr. Huo."
Huo Sili glanced around and asked in a calm voice, "Where is she?"
She...
Observing Huo Sili's expression, He Xu said, "Secretary Jiang just left not long ago. She left when she saw that you were almost awake."
It was unclear whether Horstley was satisfied with the answer; the man's expression didn't seem happy, but it didn't seem particularly unhappy either.
The atmosphere became somewhat tense for a moment. He Xu was conflicted, unsure whether he should say anything more, such as how Secretary Jiang had been very anxious and pale when she arrived, clearly showing her concern.
Horst suddenly interrupted his thoughts, "What time is it?"
"Ah." He Xu quickly glanced at his phone and then gave the time.
Huo Sili rubbed his temples. "Go and complete the formalities, then go back to the company."
He Xu's eyelids twitched. "The doctor said you should..."
Huo Sili glanced at him, and He Xu immediately shut up, "Yes."
At the Huo Group headquarters, Jiang Qin, having regained her composure, continued to immerse herself in her work. Lin Xiaoyu, meanwhile, was organizing documents, her emotions clearly calmed down as well.
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Huo Sili followed He Xu out, heading towards the president's office.
A woman with long, wavy curly hair walked quickly in high heels, her voice loud and choked with sobs.
"Mr. Huo, you've finally arrived! Secretary Jiang's intern assaulted someone! She beat someone so badly their nose was bleeding! It's outrageous!"
Huo Sili paused, turned around, and frowned slightly.
