Chapter 7 : Anna
Chapter 7 : Anna
AnnaStaring at the blank ID card in her hand, Cecilia furrowed her brow deeply, falling into a difficult dilemma.
Until now, she had never thought about giving herself a more feminine name.
How about... just calling herself Cecilia?
After all, as Aesther had said before, this body's given name was Cecilia. Other than being a bit awkward to pronounce with those four characters, it wasn't really a problem.
But after careful consideration, she ultimately gave up on this idea.
This body's appearance was already so eye-catching—choosing a name that clearly didn't match only made it more obvious she was out of place. Wouldn't that just be openly telling everyone there was something wrong with her?
No, she definitely couldn't pick that name.
Yet, she urgently needed an ID card right now to solve the issue of her "sudden appearance" out of nowhere.
In modern society, in a country ruled by law, not having an ID card meant she could only hide and skulk about, living her whole life as an undocumented person. This was absolutely not what Cecilia wanted.
With no choice, she could only grit her teeth and keep thinking.
Since Cecilia wouldn't work, how about Ce... Cejin Hua? Ce Xiaomei?
Before she could come up with a usable name, she already started to amuse herself.
It's already the 21st century—would anyone actually use names like that anymore?
Forget it, maybe she should just modify her old name a bit.
Chen Zixuan, Chen Zixin—these sounded alright.
Though they were quite common, the type of names you'd hear everywhere, but since this was an unusual time, maybe something plain would actually be for the best.
"Are you trying to come up with a name?"
Gu Yanxi had been staring at her for a while, finally unable to contain her curiosity and asked.
"Yeah, I haven't really decided yet,"
Cecilia nodded.
A name counted as something rather important—she might have to use it for a lifetime. Even though she'd narrowed it down, she still didn't dare hastily pick one.
"I actually have an idea—want to hear it? It's a name I picked for my little sister before."
Gu Yanxi tidied a lock of her hair that had fallen over her ear, an expectant look on her face as she sat on the edge of the bed, scooting over a little closer.
"Oh? Let's hear it,"
Cecilia nodded again.
She'd always been terrible at naming things—in such a dilemma, listening to Gu Yanxi's opinion would naturally be for the best.
"Honestly, I always felt that you, with how you look now, really resemble a doll I had when I was little."
As Gu Yanxi continued, her face gradually took on a look of nostalgia: "I got that doll on my sixth birthday—it was a gift from my mom. Like you, she had white hair and blue eyes. Even if they were just glass marbles, they were really pretty."
Not sure what this had to do with picking a name, Cecilia still nodded and listened on.
"I was still little back then and kept pestering my mom to give me a little sister. Maybe she got tired of my constant nagging, so she bought me that doll, and from then on, I always treated her as if she was my real little sister and even gave her a name."
At this point, Gu Yanxi paused, then continued:
"Her name... Anna. Right, you can be called Gu Anna from now on, how about it?"
"Gu Anna?"
Cecilia was a bit caught off guard. Wasn't Gu Yanxi just talking about her childhood? How did it suddenly turn into her picking a name for Cecilia?
"Yes, that's right. Gu Anna—what do you think?"
Gu Yanxi's eyes shone with anticipation.
Cecilia... Gu Anna...
Just based on the name, it wasn't bad.
Although it was still a little odd, it was much better than just going by Cecilia outright.
After pondering for a moment, Cecilia asked, "I still don't understand—why Anna? Isn't that kind of strange?"
"I think it's fine! With how you look right now, you don't even seem like you're from here. Your hair is silver, your eyes are blue—doesn't this name fit perfectly?"
As she finished, Gu Yanxi hurriedly added, "Also, if you take my family name Gu, you can be my little sister from now on."
So that was your true motive in the end...
Cecilia was a little speechless, but with Gu Yanxi's overwhelming desire for a little sister, she finally, albeit reluctantly, agreed to the name.
Anyway, it was just a temporary alias. What difference did it make?
Who knows, in a few days she might return back to normal.
And then she wouldn't need a fake ID anymore, either.
With things as they were, she could only comfort herself with these thoughts.
Gradually, black ink rose from the ID card's blank surface, finally coming together on its own to form three neatly printed characters.
——Gu Anna.
From now on, this would be her new name in the real world.
......
After the naming issue was resolved, Gu Yanxi seemed in great spirits and worked much more efficiently at everything.
She rummaged in the wardrobe for a few minutes and found the pajamas she wore back in junior high. Excitedly, she handed them to Cecilia. "My mom washed and stored them away—try them on!"
There was no need to be picky about pajamas—even if the size was off, it was just for one night since they'd buy new ones tomorrow anyway.
Very quickly, with Gu Yanxi's help, Cecilia changed into the pink and white pajamas. The sleeves were just right and the fit was perfect.
Also, as people said it wasn't good to sleep with your hair tied at night, Gu Yanxi helped her take off her twin-tail hair bands.
With her usual twin-tails, she looked fine, but once her silvery white hair was let loose, it spilled down her back like a waterfall. The volume was so full it looked like it could wrap her whole body, making her seem even more petite—a sight that filled Gu Yanxi with envy.
She looked just like Aisaka Taiga from "Toradora,"
QUNVIIer and 泗久漆(三)俬.
Wearing a pair of obviously too-large slippers, she shuffled "pa-ta pa-ta" into the bathroom. Gu Yanxi first got a spare toothbrush, then found a disposable paper cup. Cecilia swiftly brushed her teeth, washed her face, and finally dried off with Gu Yanxi's towel.
There was a faint, pleasant scent of face wash—quite nice, actually.
Reluctantly putting the towel back, Gu Yanxi suddenly thought of something and said: "Oh, I almost forgot—you need to change your sanitary pad before bed. I don't need to help you with that this time, right?"
"... Actually, yes."
Though she found it hard to say, Cecilia truly had no experience with this—especially when it came to a girl's troublesome period. With no choice, she could only keep turning to Gu Yanxi for help.
"True, you don't even have a small basket. We'll need to buy one tomorrow too..."
With an ambiguous glance, Gu Yanxi looked to the corner of the bathroom, where two small plastic baskets sat—one light blue, one pink.
Blushing, she walked stiffly to the corner, picked up the blue basket, filled it halfway with hot water at the sink, then squeezed in some laundry detergent from a bottle beneath the sink, bending over to place the basket on the floor.
"It should be alright... Well, no choice. Tonight, just use mine first..."
