Chapter 397 The Bride of the Sea God (64)
"it is good."
With someone backing him up, Nolan stands tall and proud, like a victorious little rooster.
He lagged two steps behind Yan Zhen and, from an angle where she couldn't see him, secretly rolled his eyes at Qiao Yun.
Qiao Yun: "..."
The two, one human and one fish, got into the SUV. Nolan drove, and Yan Zhen sat in the passenger seat.
She had just fastened her seatbelt when Wei Shucheng called: "Where are you?"
"I just finished class and I'm leaving from school now. It will take about half an hour to get there."
"Okay, see you at the entrance of the Ocean Museum."
After hanging up the phone, Yan Zhen snapped his fingers: "Let's go."
Half an hour later, Yan Zhen, along with Nolan, met up with Wei Shucheng at the museum entrance.
They've come today to take away Mia's skeleton, which is on display at the Ocean Museum.
Over the past year, Yan Zhen has been working tirelessly to buy Mia's skeleton, fulfilling his promise to Asaya to return his sister's remains to the ocean.
However, after the national law banning the capture of mermaids was introduced, the Maritime Museum knew that this might be the last mermaid skeleton it could possess, and refused to budge no matter what.
Yan Zhen spent a year negotiating, spending money and pulling strings in every way possible, until the Ocean Museum finally had no choice but to agree.
When I entered the museum, it was already 6 p.m. The museum was being cleared out and closed, and the staff were taking the skeleton down from the exhibition area and putting it into a box.
The handover went smoothly; the two people and the fish took Mia's skeleton and headed straight for the beach.
Under the cover of night, Yan Zhen and Wei Shucheng boarded the yacht and set sail again after a year.
This time, they did not approach the sea area where the mermaids lived. Instead, they kept a distance and had Nolan notify the mermaids, who then came forward to take Mia's skeleton away.
At Nolan's summons, dozens of mermaids, led by Asaya, surfaced and took Mia away.
The sea returned to calm, and Yan Zhen didn't rush to send the bodyguards back. She and Nolan stayed in the cabin, looking through the porthole at Wei Shucheng, who was drinking on the deck.
It was a long time before Yan Zhen went out and sat down next to Wei Shucheng.
Wei Shucheng was holding a half-empty can of beer and glanced at her sideways.
Yan Zhen asked, "Mia has gone home. What are your plans now?"
Wei Shucheng said, "I'm preparing to go abroad."
Yan Zhen paused for a moment.
Wei Shucheng noticed the subtle change in her expression and smiled helplessly: "Don't worry, I'm not going to seek revenge on Si Lan. I'm going to Yamato. The mermaid industry is rampant there, and I want to go and call on Yamato to legislate to protect mermaids."
This idea coincided with Yan Zhen's: "Coincidentally, the first country I plan to go to after graduating next year to promote legislation to protect mermaids is also Yamato."
Upon hearing this, Wei Shucheng picked up the beer next to him, pulled the tab, and handed it to Yan Zhen.
Yan Zhen took it, and the two touched.
"Then I wish us success."
"Where there's a will, there's a way; man can conquer nature. Yes, we will."
After taking a couple of sips of beer, Yan Zhen hesitated for a moment, then asked in a low voice, "Si Lan...aren't you going to seek revenge on her?"
Wei Shucheng chuckled and said, "What, are you worried about her personal safety?"
Yan Zhen nodded and said, "But I will keep my promise to you. I won't tell her about you and Mia."
Wei Shucheng's smile turned bitter: "I'm not going to look anymore... it's pointless."
"Ok?"
"Mia is dead. What difference would it make if I killed Si Lan? She's not coming back."
Wei Shucheng's eyes slowly reddened. "Murder is illegal, and killing Si Lan will also implicate me... Call me afraid of death or make excuses, but all I can do now is keep this life and do my best to protect Mia's people, to find some psychological comfort for Mia and for myself."
Yan Zhen remained silent for a long while, then said in a low voice, "I'm sorry."
“It’s not your fault.” Wei Shucheng shook his head, picked up the beer can, stood up unsteadily, and turned to walk into the cabin.
Yan Zhen watched his retreating figure, feeling a pang of melancholy.
She got up to call her bodyguards to set sail back to Shengjing, when suddenly a clanging and banging noise came from the cabin, as if someone had knocked something over.
Yan Zhen strode in and saw Nolan lying on the ground, his face flushed, his body twisted like a pretzel, and two empty beer cans on the ground.
"..." Yan Zhen helped him up and patted his face, "Who told you to drink?"
Nolan, feeling a bit dizzy from drinking, grinned at her and said, "Nobody told me to drink this, but I wanted to try."
Yan Zhen struggled to drag him up from the ground, preparing to take him back to his room.
Nolan's legs went weak and he could no longer stand. He clung to her like a limp noodle, rubbing his cheek against her neck and saying, "Xiaxia, Xiaxia... it's hot."
"Don't move around. I'll turn on the air conditioner for you when we get back to your room."
After finally getting Nolan back to her room, Yan Zhen was about to look for the air conditioner remote when she turned around and Nolan pressed against her from behind, wrapping her arms around her waist, her voice soft and sticky: "Xiaxia... um, Xiaxia..."
Yan Zhen got goosebumps from being rubbed against, grabbed Nolan's hair at the back of his head, and forcefully pulled him away.
Nolan cried out in pain as he was grabbed: "Ouch! Xiaxia, it hurts!"
Yan Zhen glanced at his aroused lower body: "Behave yourself, or it will hurt even more."
Yan Zhen roughly threw him back onto the bed, turned on the air conditioner, slipped out of the room, and locked the door from the outside.
After doing all this, she stood outside the door and gently exhaled.
Back at the villa on Changming Road, Nolan went crazy as soon as she entered the door, grabbing Yan Zhen who was sitting on the sofa and burying herself in her arms, wanting her to hold her.
Yan Zhen grabbed his neck with one hand to prevent him from getting closer, and with the other hand, she used her phone to call Professor Chen, who used to work at the New Territories Research Institute, to ask what to do when a male mermaid goes into heat.
Professor Chen asked, "How big is that mermaid?"
"You'll be three years old soon." Yan Zhen couldn't resist Nolan's stubbornness in clinging to her with one hand, so she kicked him away.
Nolan was kicked and fell to the ground, but then quickly stuck to him like a piece of chewing gum.
Professor Chen asked, "Have you ever been in heat before?"
“No,” Yan Zhen said. “He drank today, and now… he’s incredibly clingy. He won’t listen to me and I can’t get rid of him. It’s like he’s lost his mind. Are all mermaids like this when they’re in heat?”
Professor Chen was silent for a moment, then said tactfully, "Mermaids are more excited than usual when they first go into heat, but they won't completely lose their minds. Try slapping him twice."
Yan Zhen was taken aback and immediately looked down at Nolan.
She caught him secretly glancing at her.
"Thank you, Professor Chen, I understand." Yan Zhen hung up the phone, rolled up his sleeves, and beat up Nolan.
After being beaten, Nolan "calmed down" and obediently returned to the large fish tank, sinking to the bottom and moaning.
After being emotional for a while, the effects of the alcohol kicked in again, and his head was spinning.
Floating to the top of the fish tank, Nolan swung his big tail, splashing water all over the floor and using sound waves to shake down everything on the table, cabinets, and paintings hanging on the wall.
When Yan Zhen took a shower, she came out of the bathroom and saw the mess in the living room. Her face turned completely dark.
