Chapter 114 Deviation (36)
Chapter 114 Deviation (36)
“But Zhou Yan cheated on me; his heart is never with me.”
"Stop being so dramatic!" Ming's father's face darkened. "A family like the Zhou family, it's your good fortune that Zhou Yan is interested in you. Otherwise, you wouldn't meet someone as rich as him even if you burned incense for ten lifetimes. Don't even think about getting a divorce. Your mother and I will absolutely not agree!"
Ming Yirong chimed in, "Yeah, Weiwei, so many people get married all over the world, is it all because of love? They're just making do. Zhou Yan is such a good catch, our family needs his help in so many ways. If you bring up divorce now, who will pay for Mom's medical bills?"
Yan Zhen sneered: "Does Mom really need to have surgery?"
"What you're saying..." Ming Yirong's eyes flickered, but he said, "Would I joke about something like this?"
"You've asked me for money through Mom more than once or twice. I didn't bother to call you out on the ten or twenty thousand you took before, but this time you're asking for seven hundred thousand. Do you really think I run a bank?" Yan Zhen's eyes were full of sarcasm. "Even if Zhou Yan and I are doing well, we'll break up sooner or later because of you bloodsucking poor relatives."
"You..." Ming Yirong's little scheme was exposed, and he immediately became furious and pointed at her, cursing, "Who the hell is a bloodsucking poor relative? Watch your mouth! Don't think that just because you've climbed the social ladder you're superior. No matter how rich you are, you're still a daughter of the Ming family, and my sister! You have to contribute to our parents' daily expenses and retirement!"
“I will not shirk my responsibility to take care of my parents, but it will be within reasonable limits,” Yan Zhen said. “You said Mom needs to have surgery, fine, let her have it done. After the surgery, we’ll settle the bill with the payment slip and invoice. We’ll split it in half, and I’ll give you my half. But don’t even think about taking a single penny from me.”
Upon hearing this, Ming's father angrily retorted, "Ming Yiwei, are you out of your mind! If you have money, where will you spend it instead of helping your family? I'm your father, and Arong is your brother. We are your blood relatives. If anything happens to you in the future, only we can stand up for you..."
"Stand up?" Yan Zhen sneered. "What you call standing up means not confronting my husband after finding out he cheated on me, not supporting me, but instead expecting me to compromise and continue to extract money from him for you to spend?"
Ming's father: "..."
Ming Yirong: "..."
The argument drew the attention of many patients and their families in the ward, who peeked out to watch. Even Ming's mother came out with her IV drip and stood helplessly at the ward door, looking in their direction.
Ming's father was speechless, his face turning extremely ugly: "So you're determined to get a divorce?"
"Correct."
"I disagree!!!"
Ming Yirong quickly chimed in, "I disagree too. Divorced women are so cheap. Aren't you embarrassing me and my parents?"
Seeing that the atmosphere was just right, Yan Zhen deliberately provoked them: "This is my business, I don't need your consent. I've already drafted the divorce agreement, and I'll discuss it with Zhou Yan today..."
Before she could finish speaking, Ming's father slapped her across the face.
Yan Zhen didn't dodge and took the blow head-on.
Upon seeing this, Ming's mother screamed and rushed out, blocking Yan Zhen's path: "What are you doing! Let's talk this out, why are you resorting to violence!"
Yan Zhen paused slightly.
Ming's father felt a sense of humiliation, as the head of the family, whose authority had been challenged. He shoved Ming's mother aside and said, "Get out of here! If you hadn't spoiled this bitch, would she dare to talk to me like that? If I don't beat her into submission today, I'm not Ming!"
Ming's mother was pushed and stumbled, falling to the ground. The IV bottle she was holding shattered into pieces, cutting her palms and drawing blood.
Ming's father rolled up his sleeves and rushed over, grabbed Yan Zhen's hair, forced her to raise her head, and pretended to slap her.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed the back of Ming's father's collar and lifted him up.
Ming's father was struggling to breathe because of the collar. He looked down and saw that his feet were off the ground. He panicked and turned around to see who was behind him.
The man flicked his hand, and Ming's father's obese body slammed against the wall with a "thud" like a rotten sweet potato, before limply sliding down.
Yan Zhen turned her head and saw that the person who came was Zhou Rang. She pretended to be surprised: "Zhou... Third Uncle!"
Before Zhou Rang could answer, Ming Yirong, seeing his father being taken aback, was taken aback and asked, "Who are you?"
Zhou Rang gave him a cold glance.
Ming Yirong quickly took a step back, realizing he was no match for him. He immediately screamed at the top of his lungs, "Murder! Murder! Help..."
Zhou Rang frowned, grabbed Ming Yirong's chin, and with a crisp "crack" of bone dislocation, Ming Yirong's jaw was dislocated.
He was in so much pain that tears welled up in his eyes, his mouth was wide open, and saliva kept dripping from the corners of his mouth, making it impossible for him to utter a complete sentence.
The situation was brought under control instantly.
Zhou Rang then looked at Yan Zhen, who had a clear finger mark on her cheek. He frowned and asked, "Are you alright?"
Yan Zhen shook his head, indicating that he was fine.
Seeing that Ming's mother was still sitting on the ground with blood gushing from her palm, Yan Zhen was about to go over to help her up, but Ming's mother ignored the IV drip that was still flowing blood back in, crawled to Ming's father's side, and turned him over, who was lying on the ground unconscious.
Seeing that half of Ming's father's face was red from hitting the wall and that his nose was bleeding, Ming's mother burst into tears: "Weiwei, how could you do this? He's still your father."
Yan Zhen: "..."
Hearing that familiar, aggrieved, and helpless cry, for a moment, Yan Zhen couldn't tell whether he was angry or relieved.
She had completely given up on the idea of making Ming's mother "wake up" and stop being a bloodsucker for her husband and son.
The commotion alerted the nurses' station, and a nurse ran over with a security guard.
Seeing this, the nurse checked on Ming's father and Ming Yirong while saying, "What are you doing? Don't you know you can't fight in a hospital? Who started this?"
Just as Yan Zhen was about to speak, Zhou Rang pulled her behind him, took out his phone and made a call: "Fang Tianqi, go to the fourth floor of the inpatient department—my assistant will handle the rest."
The last sentence was addressed to Yan Zhen. After Zhou Rang finished speaking, he pulled her away first.
The two had only taken a few steps when Ming's mother's voice came from behind: "Weiwei, are you just leaving like this?"
Yan Zhen didn't turn around, and kept walking.
Ming's mother was both anxious and angry, and her voice rose: "You...you stop right there! The people you brought beat up your father and your brother, and you're just going to leave without even paying their medical bills?"
Yan Zhen ignored it until she entered the elevator and Ming Ma's weak sobs disappeared from her ears. She breathed a long sigh of relief.
As they walked out of the hospital, Zhou Rang walked very fast, and Yan Zhen, being led by him, had to jog to keep up.
When they arrived at the parking lot, Zhou opened the car door, shoved Yan Zhen into the passenger seat, and then leaned in to fasten her seatbelt.
As he approached, the refreshing scent of his aftershave hit Yan Zhen, who turned her face away and straightened her body to create distance between them.
Zhou Rang noticed her subtle movements, glanced at her after fastening his seatbelt, then closed the car door and quickly left.
Yan Zhen sat alone in the passenger seat, momentarily stunned.
Zhou Rang left her here; what was he supposed to do?
