Chapter 128 Alien Invasion 5

Chapter 128 Alien Invasion 5

In the midst of their playful antics, Shen Ying accidentally tripped over a small object on the ground and fell forward. Su Lan quickly reached out to catch her, letting Shen Ying fall on top of him. Their eyes met, and time seemed to stand still for a moment.

They could clearly hear each other's breathing. Shen Ying's cheeks instantly turned crimson, and a hint of panic and shyness flashed in her eyes.

Su Lan looked at her tenderly, her blue eyes sparkling like stars, and a subtle atmosphere spread between them.

Shen Ying's heart pounded like a drum. She tried to get up in a panic, but Su Lan gently pressed her shoulder down. "Be careful, don't hurt yourself again." Su Lan's voice was a little hoarse, as if carrying some unspeakable undercurrent.

Shen Ying's face turned even redder. She didn't dare to look Su Lan in the eye and whispered, "I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean to."

Su Lan looked at her shy expression and smiled slightly. "It's okay, this is... fine too."

During this time, Shen Ying discovered that Su Lan cared for her deeply, but it was a faint, secretive emotion, like an undercurrent hidden beneath a calm lake.

There were no passionate expressions, only silent protection, which brought Shen Ying a unique warmth in this dangerous world, yet she dared not touch it easily.

Just then, a strange noise came from outside, like the sound of an alien moving around nearby.

The two tensed up instantly. Su Lan quickly stood up, shielding Shen Ying behind her, her eyes becoming wary.

"You stay here, I'll go check it out." Su Lan picked up her weapon and prepared to go out to investigate.

“No, I’ll go with you,” Shen Ying said firmly. She picked up an iron bar from the side. Although her leg was still injured, there was no fear in her eyes.

Su Lan looked at her and nodded. The two of them carefully walked toward the source of the sound.

Throughout the journey, Su Lan frequently looked back at Shen Ying to ensure her safety.

They breathed a sigh of relief when they realized it was just the sound of an old iron plate being blown away by the wind.

Su Lan looked at Shen Ying and smiled, saying, "It seems it was a false alarm. Let's go back and continue painting." Shen Ying nodded, and the two returned to the wall.

Shen Ying stared intently at the food Su Lan had brought out, her brows furrowed slightly, her eyes filled with confusion.

The food that smelled so enticing now seemed like a series of mysteries to her.

In this world ravaged by aliens and as desolate as a deserted island, the appearance of this food is truly a rare sight.

Tender chunks of meat, brightly colored fruits and vegetables, and delicate desserts—each item seemed like a treasure from another affluent world; calling it luxurious wouldn't be an exaggeration.

She couldn't help but turn to look at Su Lan, her eyes burning with curiosity.

"Su Lan, where did you find so much delicious food?" Su Lan just smiled mysteriously, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, revealing a meaningful arc, and then said, "Come with me."

Su Lan led Shen Ying through the winding passageway, turning left and right, until they finally stopped in front of a seemingly ordinary door.

He glanced back at Shen Ying, whose face was full of curiosity, and that meaningful smile reappeared on his lips before opening the door.

Inside the door was a room, resembling a small experimental base.

The first thing that catches the eye is a vibrant vegetable growing area, where tender green leaves shimmer with the glow of life under the soft light.

Rows of neat shelves are planted with all kinds of vegetables. There are jade-green lettuce leaves that spread out like delicate little fans; there are bright red cherry tomatoes that look like sparkling gems, so plump that they seem to burst with sweet juice if you pinch them; and there are slender green beans that sway gently in the wind on the trellis like graceful green ribbons.

On the other side of the room were several large freezers.

Opening the freezer, I found it filled with frozen meats. There were tender pieces of beef with clearly defined marbling; plump chicken that had been carefully prepared; and tempting pork, neatly arranged there.

Further inside, there are rows of shelves, making this place resemble a magical little warehouse.

The shelves were filled with all sorts of supplies: well-sealed cans with beautifully printed designs, filled with fruits, fish, and other delicious foods; various cooking spices in small bottles, their rich aroma filling the air; and clean tableware and cookware gleaming with metallic sheen in the corner.

The entire room was like an oasis in this cruel world, full of hope and vitality.

Su Lan gently closed the door, turned to look at Shen Ying, and slowly said, "I discovered this place by chance when the aliens first started to wreak havoc. I was just as shocked as you were at the time, never expecting that such a 'treasure trove' would be hidden here."

He walked towards the vegetable growing area, stroking the lush green leaves as he said, "This place may have originally been a secret project base for a research team. These vegetables were cultivated using special planting techniques that ensured their growth even with limited resources. The lights simulate the spectrum of sunlight, and the nutrient solution formula is also unique, which is why these vegetables grow so well."

Next, he went to the freezer, opened the door, and was hit by a blast of cold air.

“These meats were stored here before the disaster, possibly as supplies for long-term experiments. When I found them, they were still in good condition, so I tried to keep the freezer running so that these precious foods could be preserved.”

At night, Shen Ying lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

Surrounded by darkness, her gaze pierced through the thick gloom and fell upon Su Lan, who was sleeping on a makeshift bed on the floor.

One of the game's tasks was to stop him from researching aliens, and for this reason, Shen Ying had been closely monitoring Su Lan's every move.

However, to date, she has not found any indication that Su Lan is researching aliens.

This really puzzled Shen Ying. If Su Lan really wasn't researching aliens, that would be the best thing.

But what if he's secretly conducting research behind my back? How can I stop him?

The next day, the sunlight struggled to break through the haze and cast a few rays onto the mottled walls of the research institute.

As usual, Su Lan told Shen Ying to stay in the room before turning and leaving.

As the footsteps faded into the distance, Shen Ying gently opened the door, a determined glint in her eyes, and quietly followed them.

She crouched low, her steps as light as a kitten searching for food, carefully moving along the wall.

At each corner, she would peek out to make sure Su Lan was there before continuing to follow.

The air around her seemed to freeze, with only her own rapid, shallow breathing echoing in her ears.

Su Lan's steps seemed casual, but they carried a strange sense of purpose.

Shen Ying dared not slack off in the slightest, her eyes fixed on the figure in front of her, her heart pounding like a deer.

As they walked, a dimly lit corridor appeared ahead, and Su Lan's figure quickly disappeared into the shadows of the corridor.

Shen Ying gritted her teeth and quickened her pace to catch up, her heart pounding even harder.
