Chapter 43 That Girl is a Bit Fierce
Xia Lanyue glanced at Acheng, who was sleeping soundly, and went over to nudge him. "Hey, want some more?"
"Drink," Acheng opened his eyes.
"Acheng, did you steal the missing grain?" Xia Lanyue asked.
"I didn't steal it," A-Cheng said, smacking his lips. "It wasn't me."
"Did Ah Niu steal it?"
"Who are you? What do you want with Ah Niu?"
"Who stole the grain?" Xia Lanyue asked.
"What stealing? Master Wei, you've taken enough," A-Cheng said, reaching out and waving his hand haphazardly in the air.
Master Wei?! Xia Lanyue was a little surprised. "Who is Master Wei?"
"If you don't even know who Wei Yuanwai is, what are you doing here?"
"Acheng probably doesn't know either?" Xia Lanyue said.
“Master Wei, you’re incredibly treacherous,” A-Cheng’s voice suddenly became very loud.
Xia Lanyue glanced at the main house, but there was no movement. It seemed that Xia Huifang hadn't heard anything, so Xia Lanyue was relieved.
Next, Acheng rambled on and on about incomprehensible things. Xia Lanyue couldn't understand him and had lost patience, so she simply stopped asking. She thought about how to drag him back to the room, but looking at Acheng's burly figure, she realized she couldn't move him, and Dai You was drunk and couldn't help. Xia Lanyue was at a loss. Fortunately, the May weather wouldn't make him cold, so she decided to let him sleep there.
Xia Lanyue turned to look at Dai You, who was fast asleep. Recalling how well-behaved Dai You had been after getting drunk, she couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Xia Lanyue walked over and patted Dai You on the shoulder, "Dai You? Dai You? Wake up, go back to sleep."
Dai You did not respond.
Xia Lanyue sighed, then took Dai You's arm, put it on her shoulder, and helped him walk towards the west room.
Dai You was much taller than Xia Lanyue, and Xia Lanyue felt like she was using a crutch next to him. When Dai You lost his balance, he even put his hand on her head, which made her very unhappy.
"I'll let it slide since you saved me, but this can only happen this once," Xia Lanyue muttered as she pushed open the door to the west room.
Avoiding the table, Xia Lanyue walked to the couch, pushed Dai You onto the couch, and then fell down onto the couch herself.
Xia Lanyue quickly realized that when Dai You fell, he reflexively hooked his arm around her waist.
Xia Lanyue turned her head and glared at Dai You, who was also looking at her with his eyes slightly open.
Xia Lanyue tensed up instantly, which reminded her of the way he had looked at her before. Coupled with the scene that was easy to imagine, she quickly pushed his hand away and stood up.
In an instant, Xia Lanyue thought about many things. She didn't want this relationship to become strange and complicated, so she turned around, mustered up her courage, and said to Dai You, "Brother, you can't make jokes like that anymore, or I'll get angry."
After waiting for a long time, Dai You did not respond, nor did he even move.
So, Xia Lanyue moved closer to check and found that he was still the same as before, with his eyes slightly open and his breathing even, as if he were asleep and not moving at all.
Xia Lanyue was unsure, so she waved her hand in front of his eyes, but there was no response; he had indeed fallen asleep.
Is this guy sleeping with his eyes open? Xia Lanyue was speechless, but then she thought this was the best-case scenario, so she closed the door and went back to her room.
“This horse is so beautiful,” she said, looking at the white horse in front of her. She wanted to stroke it, but she was afraid, and her hand hesitated in mid-air.
“It’s alright, it’s very gentle,” the man beside her said, taking her hand and gently placing it on the horse’s head, leading her to stroke the white horse.
"Want to ride a horse? I'll teach you," the man said.
"think."
In the blink of an eye, the two were riding on the same horse. The man behind her wrapped his arms around her and held her hand, teaching her how to pull the reins.
Suddenly, a group of people came to the front of the horse. The leader was a middle-aged woman dressed in gorgeous clothes. From her arrogant appearance, it was clear that she was not a kind person.
"What are you doing?!" the woman said slowly, then turned her head to one side and ordered the servants, "Go and invite the young lady down."
Then, she was pulled off the horse and thrown to the ground.
"You've gone too far!" The man hurriedly dismounted and helped her up.
"Ha, is that going too far?" With that, the woman pulled the woman from the man's arms, slapped her across the face, and muttered, "And what about this one?!"
The man exclaimed, "Ah Yue!"
“Ayue…Ayue…”
"Ah Yue?!" Xia Lanyue woke up in shock and covered her face with her hands.
"Ah Yue, are you awake?" It was Xia Huifa's voice from outside the door.
Outside the window, it was already dawn.
This dream felt so real, as if she were the one being beaten, and she even felt a surge of anger!
"A-Yue?" Xia Huifang called again from the doorway. Xia Lanyue composed herself and replied, "I'm awake."
The door opened, and Xia Huifang poked her head in. "I'm going to the fields. When Acheng wakes up, tell him to come over quickly."
Xia Lanyue forced a smile and said, "I understand."
After Xia Huifang left, Xia Lanyue sat on the edge of the bed, unable to pull herself out of her dream. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She was angry that the woman was too weak, angry that she woke up before she could retaliate, angry that Xia Huifang had woken her up at this time. In short, she was angry about everything related to that.
Xia Lanyue immediately lay down, wanting to continue the dream, but once she woke up, she was awake. Unable to fall back asleep with those emotions, she could never return to the unfinished dream.
Xia Lanyue got up, ate breakfast, and then sat in the courtyard, lost in thought.
"Good morning, A-Yue," came Xia Yao's voice from behind.
As her thoughts returned to the past night, Xia Lanyue couldn't help but blush. She quickly composed herself and turned back to calmly say, "Good morning."
Xia Yao can walk on his own without crutches now, though he walks a little slowly.
“Ah Yue, you know…” Xia Yao looked at Xia Lanyue, but stopped mid-sentence, “Never mind.”
Although Xia Lanyue didn't know what he wanted to ask, she still felt a little awkward when she looked at him, so she quickly turned her head away and said, "I don't know anything."
"Huh? Oh."
At that moment, the door to the west room was opened, and Acheng came out.
Xia Lanyue was taken aback. Why was he in the west room? But then she thought that she hadn't seen him in the kitchen that morning, so she guessed that he had climbed back into the room by himself after sobering up.
Dai You came out with A-Cheng. When Xia Lanyue saw Dai You, she stood up to greet him, "Did you sleep well last night?"
"it is good."
"Ah, there's breakfast in the kitchen, Cheng. After you eat, hurry up and go to the fields. Aunt Xia said so."
"I understand," A-Cheng said as he walked toward the kitchen.
After Xia Yao and Acheng entered the kitchen, Xia Lanyue pulled Dai You aside and asked, "Have you ever taught me how to ride a horse?"
Dai You was somewhat surprised. He stared into her eyes, as if trying to find something there, but her eyes were blank except for confusion, devoid of any emotion. Disappointed, he withdrew his gaze and said, "Hmm."
“A white horse,” Xia Lanyue said.
Dai You's eyes were full of surprise.
Seeing his expression, Xia Lanyue felt he had guessed correctly and continued to ask, "Who was the woman who slapped me?"
In an instant, Dai You revealed a look of surprise, and his eyes lit up.
"Why are you so happy that I got beaten up?!" Xia Lanyue looked surprised.
"No, I'm happy that you have memories!"
