Inviting the Moon to the Farmhouse

Chapter 171 1 Children

Chapter 171 1 Children

In a room on the second floor of the Yunji Inn, Xia Yao sat at the table and leisurely took a sip of tea.

Li Tao leaned against the bedside, cracking sunflower seeds.

The floor of the room was covered with scattered sunflower seed shells.

Xia Yao put down his teacup and said, "Child, it's better not to keep him."

"Pah!" Li Tao spat out the sunflower seed shell in her mouth and patted the dust off her hands.

Xia Yao looked at Li Tao and saw that she had closed her eyes, crossed her arms, and refused to communicate with him.

"How much silver do you want? Name your price," Xia Yao asked.

Li Tao completely ignored him.

Li Tao remained silent.

“If you don’t name your price now, you’ll never have another chance,” Xia Yao said.

Seeing that Li Tao remained unmoved, Xia Yao continued, "You went to meet with A Yue, which made me very angry. No matter what you do, I will not acknowledge the child. Don't even think about using the child to threaten me! We will never see each other again." After saying that, Xia Yao stood up.

Hearing the noise, Li Tao quickly sat up and looked at Xia Yao with resentment, "You have such a cruel heart."

"So what if it is?" Xia Yao's lips curled into a smile.

Li Tao stood up and sat down next to him. "You weren't like this before. Why are you acting like a completely different person?"

“You’re right, he has indeed become a different person,” Xia Yao said.

"Hmph," Li Tao sneered, her face full of helplessness. After a moment, she said softly, "I can be your concubine."

“But I don’t want to marry you,” Xia Yao said, then stood up, broke free from Li Tao’s arm, and walked toward the door.

"Ouch."

Behind me came the sound of Li Tao collapsing, accompanied by pain.

Xia Yao didn't even turn his head. "Aren't you tired of this trick yet?!"

After saying that, Xia Yao opened the door and left without looking back.

Li Tao sat on the ground, sadly watching Xia Yao's disappearing figure, tears streaming down her face.

Xia Yao went to Xia Lanyue's room, where Xia Lanyue was sitting by the window, looking at the street.

Xia Lanyue looked at Xia Yao as he entered the room, her expression not good, and her mood also darkened.

She didn't ask any questions, but waited for Xia Yao to speak.

Xia Yao walked over and hugged Xia Lanyue. "Ayue, I've already made my stance clear to her. I hope that you can trust me and support me from now on."

Xia Lanyue felt uncertain, but still asked out of curiosity, "Did you convince her? Did she agree?"

Xia Yao released Xia Lanyue, looked into her eyes, and shook his head. "She might spread this around and ruin my reputation. But Lanyue, you know I don't care about that, and besides, that child has nothing to do with me."

"What are you going to do with that child?" Xia Lanyue asked.

"I don't know, she didn't say, but I can't control that anymore."

Xia Lanyue thought for a moment, then nervously asked the question that had been bothering her, "Xia Yao, do you really have no feelings for her?"

"Of course."

Xia Lanyue stepped out of Xia Yao's arms, looked at him, and searched for answers in his eyes, "Really? But..."

Xia Yao didn't answer her, but instead kissed her directly, silencing Xia Lanyue's lips...

Soon, their breaths mingled. His tongue gently probed into her mouth, entwining with hers.

Their kiss grew deeper and more passionate, the intimate contact making their hearts beat faster.

The kiss lasted a long time, until Xia Lanyue was almost suffocating before it stopped.

Xia Lanyue breathed heavily. She looked at Xia Yao, whose eyes were shining with light, as if they were about to overflow.

"Ah Yue, I want a child, a child that belongs to both of us," Xia Yao said, panting heavily.

Xia Lanyue was slightly taken aback and fell into a dilemma. It wasn't that she didn't want to, but having just experienced these emotional ups and downs, she couldn't quite see Xia Yao's feelings and didn't know whether she should give her heart away completely. She was afraid of getting hurt.

Xia Yao seemed to sense Xia Lanyue's hesitation, and the light in his eyes gradually dimmed.

Disappointed at not receiving a reply from Xia Lanyue, he let go of her hand and turned his back.

The atmosphere in the room became awkward for a moment.

Looking at Xia Yao's dejected figure, Xia Lanyue's heart softened. She felt that compared to Xia Yao, she was too afraid of getting hurt and not brave enough in love. But she clearly had him in her heart, so why did she always reject his approach? Did she have to push him away before she would regret it?

Finally, Xia Lanyue made up her mind. She stepped forward, grabbed Xia Yao's sleeve, and tugged at it gently.

Xia Yao turned around and looked at her.

Just then, someone came to the door and knocked.

"Ah Yue, are you there?"

It was Dai You's voice.

Xia Lanyue quickly released her grip on Xia Yao's clothes, wiped her mouth, tidied her appearance, and went to open the door.

When the door opened, Dai You saw Xia Yao inside with a smile on his face, and his expression immediately darkened.

“I brought you pig’s feet, you said you liked to eat them,” Dai You said, lifting up the lotus leaf package to show Xia Lanyue what he was holding.

"Great! Xia Yao is here too, let's eat together," Xia Lanyue said, turning to look at Xia Yao.

Xia Yao smiled awkwardly and then nodded.

Xia Lanyue instructed the waiter to bring some food to the room, and then the three of them ate together there.

To break the ice, Xia Lanyue put some food into Xia Yao's bowl, saying, "Eat more, you've lost weight these past few days."

Xia Yao smiled and put the food in his mouth.

Just then, someone knocked on their door.

Xia Lanyue wondered, "Who could it be?"

"It's me, Wang Meng, here to see the village head," a strange voice called out.

As she spoke, Xia Lanyue had already reached the door.

As soon as she opened the door, a burly man appeared standing in the doorway; he was someone Xia Lanyue had never seen before.

"You're here. What's the matter?" Xia Yao had already stood up and looked at the person outside the door.

"Ah, sir, Village Chief Zhao is looking for you," Wang Meng said.

"Is there something else so late?" Xia Lanyue asked Xia Yao, puzzled.

Xia Yao smiled at Xia Lanyue, "I've been a bit busy lately, I have to go."

With that, Xia Yao walked towards the door.

Wang Mengjian saw that Xia Yao had arrived, so he greeted Xia Lanyue and Dai You, "I've informed them, so I'll be leaving now and won't disturb your meal any longer."

Xia Lanyue nodded in agreement.

Wang Meng went downstairs to wait first.

Xia Lanyue saw Xia Yao to the door, and Xia Yao turned to Xia Lanyue and said, "I've been a bit busy these past few days, so I might not have time to come see you. Don't be angry."

Xia Lanyue quickly shook her head, "I won't be angry. You go ahead and do your work. I'll come find you when you're done."

Xia Yao smiled, then hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.

Xia Lanyue noticed that he had something to say but didn't, so she asked, "Is there anything else?"

“No, that’s all. If you have any urgent matters, just come find me,” Xia Yao said.

Xia Lanyue nodded.

Then, Xia Yao jogged away.
