Chapter 154 Considerate
Chapter 154 Considerate
Xia Lanyue counted on her fingers; the Lotus Festival was just a few days away. She wondered if Jiang Di would come back and if he would remember their promise.
Suddenly, Xia Lanyue remembered that she wanted to make something special for the festival for Mihua Gao, so she went to the kitchen to find Dai You.
"What's wrong?" Dai You asked, not seeming very happy.
Xia Lanyue knew why he was unhappy, but she didn't dare to ask. "Dai You, I want to make some molds. Can you help me get some wood?"
"Wood? What kind of wood do you want?"
"It's this long and this wide," Xia Lanyue gestured to indicate its size.
"When do you want it?"
"The sooner the better, ideally today," Xia Lanyue thought, knowing her time was running out.
“Let’s go now. You come with me, and we can see if it suits your taste,” Dai You said, glancing at the main house.
“Okay,” Xia Lanyue replied.
Xia Lanyue followed Dai You into the woods.
Dai You didn't say much; he just walked ahead without paying any attention to Xia Lanyue.
Xia Lanyue knew that he must have felt uncomfortable seeing Xia Yao holding her hand earlier. But she couldn't say anything; as his older brother, this was something he would inevitably have to face.
"Is this one okay?" Xia Lanyue asked, pointing to a branch.
Dai You didn't say anything, but picked up the axe and started chopping. He was incredibly strong and finished the job in just a few strokes.
Xia Lanyue pointed to another tree, and Dai You picked up his axe and went over.
Once they had collected enough, Xia Lanyue hugged them and said to Dai You, "Let's go back."
Dai You nodded, walked to her side, took the wood from her hand, and headed home.
He's still the same; even when he's angry, he still cares about her.
That evening, Xia Lanyue couldn't wait to start designing the mold.
She thought for a moment and decided to make something simple and easy to do, like a candied hawthorn skewer or a snowman...
Dai You helped her remove the excess edges and corners, and Xia Lanyue was free to do the rest herself.
At dawn, Xia Lanyue woke up to the sound of roosters crowing.
She was determined to finish making these molds within two days, so she dared not sleep in anymore.
Xia Yao got up early and saw Xia Lanyue busy in the yard, so he went over to her.
"Ah Yue, where did you go yesterday? Why did you come back so late?" Xia Yao walked to Xia Lanyue's side and noticed the dagger in her hand. He was surprised and asked, "How did this dagger end up with you?" But after he finished speaking, he understood.
"My dagger is blocking my way," Xia Lanyue said without looking up.
Xia Yao squatted down next to Xia Lanyue. "Ayue, you're angry because of this dagger. Acheng found it and gave it to me, but I just haven't had a chance to give it to you yet."
Just like Xia Lanyue thought.
Xia Lanyue glanced back at Dai You's room and saw that he hadn't gotten up yet. She said to Xia Yao, "Don't tell Dai You how he got this dagger, or he'll really break your legs."
Xia Yao understood Xia Lanyue's meaning, and a smile appeared on his face. "I knew A-Yue cared about me, I didn't say anything." After he finished speaking, he glanced at the piece of wood in Xia Lanyue's hand. "What is A-Yue doing?"
"We're making molds for the Lotus Festival in a few days," Xia Lanyue said.
"The Lotus Festival is coming soon, let's go out and have some fun that day," Xia Yao said excitedly.
Xia Lanyue shook her head, "No."
Xia Yao's smile faded. "You're still angry."
"I'm not angry, but I have an appointment," Xia Lanyue smiled, got up and went to the kitchen to cook porridge.
Xia Lanyue didn't leave the house from morning until the end, carving wood all day long, which resulted in many cuts and bruises on her hands.
She was so engrossed that she didn't notice the time until Xia Yao returned.
Xia Yao looked at the wood chips scattered on the ground, then at Xia Lanyue's hand, and exclaimed, "A-Yue, your finger is injured."
Xia Lanyue glanced at the wound and said in a nonchalant tone, "It's nothing, just a little scratch."
Xia Yao immediately got up and went inside the house.
Soon, he came out with the small bottle.
He squatted down next to Xia Lanyue, forced her to put down what she was holding, and then took her hand.
Xia Lanyue felt shy and tried to pull her hand back, but Xia Yao held it firmly and she couldn't break free at all.
"Don't move," Xia Yao said, gently sprinkling the powder on the wound on her finger.
"Ouch, that hurts!" Xia Lanyue's hand trembled.
Xia Yao glanced at her but didn't let go of her hand. "Bear with it, it'll be over soon."
Xia Lanyue listened to his words and stopped moving around.
But, as luck would have it, Dai You returned at that very moment.
Xia Lanyue hurriedly tried to pull her hand back, but Xia Yao wouldn't let go.
Xia Yao sensed that something was wrong with Xia Lanyue. He followed her gaze to the door and saw Dai You standing there. He said, "My brother-in-law is back," and then continued applying the medicine until he was done.
Xia Lanyue stood up, looking at Dai You's gloomy face, at a loss for what to do.
Dai You didn't look at Xia Lanyue, but went straight to the corner to put out firewood.
Xia Lanyue looked at Dai You with a sense of fear and apprehension. She didn't know why, but this feeling persisted.
Xia Yao handed the medicine bottle to Xia Lanyue, "Ayue, you need to apply this medicine every day. If it's inconvenient for you, I'll apply it for you every day."
"It's convenient, I can do it myself," Xia Lanyue said, putting away the medicine bottle and then going to the kitchen to cook.
After the three finished their meal, they sat down at the table to rest. Dai You gave Xia Lanyue a small wooden box.
Xia Lanyue was a little curious and took it. "What is this?"
Xia Yao also craned his neck to look.
“Here are pills to treat your headache,” Dai You said without looking at Xia Lanyue.
Xia Lanyue's smile froze on her lips. Dai You was obsessed with this matter and still refused to give up.
“Since you don’t like taking medicine, I’ve made it into pills. You can take them with warm water, and then you won’t find them unpleasant to drink,” Dai You said.
Xia Yao noticed Xia Lanyue's displeasure and said to Dai You, "Brother-in-law, it's fine if A-Yue doesn't have any memories. As long as it doesn't affect her normal life, there's no need to insist on curing her so-called headache."
“It’s important to me that she can recover,” Dai You said.
Xia Yao glanced at Xia Lanyue and said, "Even if she regains her memories, it will only cause her more trouble. It would be better if she didn't remember them at all."
“How do you know? Whether she’s troubled or not, she’s recovered, and she can decide for herself,” Dai You said firmly.
“She has already made up her mind. She doesn’t like taking medicine, so why force her?” Xia Yao said.
Dai You looked at Xia Lanyue, "A-Yue, you tell me, will you drink this medicine?"
"I...I really don't want to take the medicine anymore," Xia Lanyue pleaded with Dai You.
“Listen to me, drink it,” Dai You said.
Xia Lanyue shook her head. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Even if I regain my memories, I will not leave this place."
Upon hearing this, Xia Yao immediately became happy again.
Dai You glared at Xia Yao. "You want to marry him?"
Xia Yao immediately looked at Xia Lanyue, his eyes filled with anticipation.
Xia Lanyue wanted to deny Dai You's statement, but she didn't want him to continue like this, so she gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, I want to, I want to marry him."
Dai You let out a cold laugh, suppressing his emotions, "Dai Xiyue, you have disappointed me greatly!"
Xia Yao snapped out of his surprise and quickly tried to comfort Dai You, saying, "Brother-in-law, don't be angry. Don't hurt yourself."
Dai You glared at Xia Yao, "Don't call me brother-in-law," and then stood up and angrily walked out of the courtyard.
Xia Lanyue got up to stop him, "Dai You," but was stopped by Xia Yao.
