Chapter 108 Dai You's Disappearance

Xia Lanyue didn't go to town; instead, she stayed to take care of Xia Yao, feeling guilty because he was injured by Dai You. Also, she had something she wanted to ask Xia Yao.

Xia Lanyue prepared a bowl of porridge for Xia Yao and took it to his room.

Xia Huifang was also in the room.

Xia Lanyue handed the porridge to Xia Yao, saying, "Eat the porridge."

Xia Huifang immediately stood up. "Ah Yue, I still have work to do in the fields, so I'll have to go first. I'll leave the climbing to you. Also, his hand is injured, so he can't eat by himself. Please help him out." Xia Huifang said as she walked out. "Oh, right, he said he has something to tell you."

Hearing Xia Huifang's words, Xia Lanyue turned to look at Xia Yao. She was both curious and a little nervous about what Xia Yao was about to say.

Xia Yao looked blankly at Xia Huifang standing at the door.

Where Xia Lanyue couldn't see, Xia Huifang winked at Xia Yao, then closed the door and left.

Xia Lanyue walked to Xia Yao's bedside, scooped up a spoonful of porridge, and held it to Xia Yao's lips, saying, "Drink the porridge."

"Are you asking why he didn't hit anyone else, but instead hit me?" Xia Yao looked up at Xia Lanyue.

“I didn’t say that, but based on my understanding of him, he wouldn’t hit someone without a reason.”

“I always thought that the only thing that could affect his emotions was you,” Xia Yao said casually while drinking his porridge.

Xia Lanyue was stunned. These words seemed to have awakened her. It seemed that this was the case. Xia Yao had taken the beating, but Dai You was angry, wasn't it her? He couldn't hit her, so he took his anger out on Xia Yao?!

Xia Lanyue looked at Xia Yao again, her eyes filled with more guilt.

"He...is he really your brother?!" Xia Yao said with a playful smile.

"Yes, is there a problem?!" Xia Lanyue said decisively, but soon she remembered her disheveled appearance when she came back that day, wondering if Xia Yao had noticed anything amiss, and she immediately felt guilty.

Xia Yao didn't say anything more and continued to drink his porridge with his head down.

The air suddenly became quiet, and the atmosphere seemed a little awkward.

Xia Lanyue couldn't stand it any longer and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll go brew the medicine. Call me if you need anything."

Hearing this, Xia Lanyue was certain that the mother and son knew about their relationship. This made her wish she could disappear into the ground. She didn't dare to look at Xia Huifang and just nodded awkwardly.

The next morning, the first thing Xia Lanyue did after getting up was to go to the west room to see if Dai You had returned.

Dai You still hadn't returned; it was already the second day.

Xia Lanyue was still a little worried, so she decided to go to town to look for him after the meal.

Upon arriving in town, Xia Lanyue first went to Zhang Langzhong's pharmacy to inquire about Dai You's whereabouts.

After thanking her, Xia Lanyue left the pharmacy and headed to the street.

"Looking for someone?" The waiter sized up Xia Lanyue. "Who are you looking for, young lady?"

"Could you check if there's anyone named Dai You living here?"

"What's your relationship to him?" the waiter asked.

“I am his sister,” Xia Lanyue said.

"Is she a real sister or a fake sister?" the waiter muttered under his breath, then loudly told her, "There is no such person."

“But you haven’t looked at the roster yet,” Xia Lanyue said.

"My memory is excellent. If I say there's nothing, then there's nothing. You should go now."

Just then, she saw a familiar figure coming down from the second floor; it was Chen Xiang.

He's here too.

"Lord Chen," Xia Lanyue walked over and greeted him.

"I've had some family matters to attend to these past few days and haven't been able to come," Xia Lanyue said, thinking that the waiter might be more accommodating if Chen Xiang was there. So she asked, "Lord Chen, could you please do me a favor?"

"I'm looking for someone here, but the waiter won't help me. Could you please speak to him for me?"

"Is that all? Okay," Chen Xiang said decisively. He walked over, whispered a few words to the waiter, and then beckoned her over.

Xia Lanyue walked over, and the waiter smiled and said to her, "I really didn't lie to you, there really isn't such a person here. I have a very good memory, I know even without looking at the roster, I can't be wrong."
