Chapter 328 - 174: Development
Chapter 328 - 174: Development
Within the temple, inside the Magic Realm.
Watching Song Wen’s arrangements, the division of labor among the Song family members, Shen Hex nodded in satisfaction.
Song Xiang’s children, while not particularly talented, and with a few spoiled and pampered, had at least received an education and could read and write. Song Wen and a few older brothers were experienced enough to manage a village easily.
Not to mention with him, the ancestral Divine Being, present. During the half month of preparation for the relocation, he entered their dreams night after night to teach them, barely managing to cultivate their abilities, ensuring there was no issue for initial development.
Next, it was time for steady growth, patient persistence was needed.
He had officially assumed his position, restricted by the duties of the land, unable to easily leave Little Huang Village, and the Song family’s business had just begun. They had no substantial power in either the Mortal World or the Underworld, aside from accumulating for development, they couldn’t accomplish much else.
Therefore, it was time to return to his old profession.
"Farming!"
"Raising pigs!"
Shen Hex smiled, stood up, left the Land God Temple, and walked to the fields outside Little Huang Village.
In this world, although there are Divine Beings, productivity hasn’t increased much, just slightly better than an ordinary feudal dynasty, an agricultural society where people wouldn’t starve to death but also wouldn’t be quite full. If there were floods, droughts, or chaos, starvation might occur.
There are two reasons for this.
The first is Divine Power consumption.
Theoretically, as long as incense continues, deities won’t die, living eternally.
But that’s just theory. Deities need incense for sustenance, and incense cannot be inexhaustible and limitless.
Occasionally, even deities must balance their budgets, unable to squander Divine Power recklessly. Otherwise, in emergencies where incense cannot replenish in time, even deities face the threat of extinction.
Thus, while deities can use Divine Art to enrich the land and manage feng shui, sometimes there are still poor harvests and even droughts, where nothing is reaped because Divine Power cannot be used at will, ensuring a balanced budget. Otherwise, even the deities cannot sustain themselves.
This is the first reason, Divine Power consumption.
The second is the issue of faith.
Though Divine Dao incense comes from Human Dao offerings, it doesn’t mean more people necessarily result in more incense.
It also involves whether the faith is steadfast.
Faith must be steadfast for offerings to be effective because incense is essentially the Wish Power of a person’s Divine Soul, not just a stick of incense.
If the faith is not firm, even if there are millions of people offering millions of sticks of incense, the Divine Beings receive no incense.
And faith, sometimes like a placebo, is needed when you are wounded, even becoming dependent on it.
If you are well-fed, warmly clothed, with a loving wife and concubines, with children completing the family, leading a life full and without regret, would you still seek blessings from deities to protect you?
Most people would not.
After all, you only believe when you have desires.
So, as a deity, you must ensure your people live well but not too well; they must have shortcomings and needs, prompting them to seek blessings and offer incense.
This is the way of governing people.
Although it sounds pretty rotten, sometimes you must admit, this rotten statement holds a certain truth.
When people are well-fed with nothing to do, it’s a frightening situation because they will find ways to create trouble for you.
For these combined reasons, though there are deities and Divine Art in this world, productivity hasn’t advanced much.
Conversely, the existence of deities somewhat suppresses the development of civilization.
To have people continuously offer incense to Divine Beings, they have taken many suppressive actions, even forming terrifying class barriers, nearly sealing off development and ascension paths, anything unfavorable to the Divine Dao is nipped in the bud, sacrificing even temporarily for the long-term benefit is not allowed.
After all, long-term benefits are realizable in the future, while temporary sacrifices are immediately apparent; who is willing to make this sacrifice for so-called long-term benefit?
Human nature is like this; divine nature is similar. Those who sacrifice the small self for the greater good are always in the minority.
Although new to this world and still lacking deep understanding, with the vision of a Transmigrator and the accumulation of multiple lifetime cultivation, Shen Hex saw through the appearances and clues, grasping the world’s situation.
Divine Dao is superior, Human Dao inferior, complacency, fear of change, like stagnant water!
This situation is unfavorable for Shen Hex’s development.
After all, with each pit having its turnip, if those above occupy it immovably, how would he rise? It couldn’t truly take thousands or tens of thousands of years, could it?
Not to mention career advancement requires creating an impact; if everything remains unchanged, what’s the use of advancing?
With conflicting interests and opposing positions, Shen Hex could foresee inevitable conflict with the deities of this world, even life and death confrontation.
However, it matters not; it wasn’t his first time doing such a thing, only previously it was humans blocking his path, now it’s gods.
Whether human or god, obstacles must be removed.
Shen Hex was prepared, ready to stir up this stagnant water, to breathe life into it, seeking greater development and higher achievements.
It all starts with Little Huang Village!
Standing atop the field ridges, Shen Hex mobilized Divine Power to perform Divine Art, enriching the land of these dozens of acres.
