Chapter 418 - 360: The First Step to Prying Open the Giant City-State Market
"Lord!"
Kado’s voice was like a dull thunderclap. He charged toward Raylo, his massive body coming to an abrupt halt just before him. The resulting gust of wind sent Raylo’s robes whipping about.
"You’re finally here! I was getting so bored staying here all by myself, I thought my bones would rust!"
Raylo smiled, not minding the hot breath blasting from the other’s mouth.
"It seems you haven’t been slacking off."
"Of course not!"
Kado puffed out his chest proudly.
"The method you taught me is really useful. I feel like I could crush a mountain into pebbles now!"
"Have you made any friends lately?"
Raylo asked.
"I’ve made several!"
Kado’s voice boomed with excitement, like a clap of thunder.
"They’re all good friends I met at the arena. We’ve fought a few times—they’re all good men!"
"Very good."
Raylo nodded.
"Today, we’re going to show your friends something special."
Nearby, a silver light suddenly flared in Moonlight’s eyes, like two miniature full moons.
Invisible Magic Power surged out like a tide, instantly enveloping Raylo.
Raylo’s body was wrapped in a silver radiance, and his bones emitted a subtle but dense popping sound.
His figure grew taller and expanded at a visible rate. Under the reshaping of the Magic Power, his muscle fibers became thick and tenacious, and his skin took on the characteristic rocky hue of a Hill Giant.
A few seconds later, the light dissipated.
A Hill Giant, just over ten meters tall, with a powerful build and a sharp, chiseled face, appeared where he had stood.
He stretched his muscles and bones, letting out a series of dull cracks as if he were getting used to his new body.
"Feels pretty good."
Raylo, or rather Carlo, nodded. His voice had also become deep and resonant.
Beside him, Moonlight yawned and lay back down, as if it had just done something trivial.
"Go on,"
Raylo said to Kado.
"Go get your friends. Tell them I have something good to show them."
"Alright!"
Having received his orders, Kado excitedly slapped his thigh, turned, and strode off toward the residential area of the Giant City-State.
Inside the massive stone house, Raylo was getting used to his new identity.
Seeing the world from a Giant’s perspective, everything suddenly felt right.
The tables and chairs that were once impossibly high were now a perfect fit.
The stone bowl in the corner now served as a handy cup.
He walked to the doorway, watching Kado’s receding figure as he mulled over his plan.
’Prying open the closed market of the Giant City-State will take more than just Kado.’
Before long, the sound of chaotic, heavy footsteps drifted from the distance, mixed with rough laughter and conversation.
Kado had returned, and behind him were four other tall, powerful figures.
These four Hill Giants were clearly a bit younger than Kado, and they carried an air of untamed wildness.
They had different builds: one had a chest as broad as a wall, another’s arms were so long they nearly reached his knees, and the other two were a pair of nearly identical twins.
As they walked, they pounded each other on the shoulders with their fists, making dull THUMP-THUMP sounds. This was a Giant’s way of showing friendship.
"Kado, what’s this ’something special’ you were talking about?"
The Giant with the broadest chest asked in a booming, muffled voice.
"If you’re trying to trick us, you’ll have a proper fight with me today!"
"Groll, shut your mouth,"
Kado retorted with a laugh.
"When have I ever tricked you? I guarantee this will blow your minds!"
They walked up to the stone house and saw Raylo standing in the doorway.
The four young Giants’ laughter died abruptly. They all knew Carlo, Kado’s nominal older brother.
"My brother Carlo brought back a batch of good stuff from his friends!"
Kado walked forward enthusiastically.
"Carlo, this is Groll, Thor, and the twins, Blak and Brook."
Raylo nodded at them.
The young Giants all nodded back in greeting.
"Alright, don’t just stand around outside."
Kado pushed them forward impatiently.
"The good stuff is inside!"
Groll and Thor exchanged a look. Curious but skeptical, they followed Kado into the stone house.
The interior of the stone house was spacious, but at the moment, it felt a little crowded.
This was because in the empty space in the center of the room, leaning against the wall, stood ten colossal objects.
The moment the four young Giants stepped into the stone house, their breathing hitched in unison.
Their eyes were instantly glued to the Weapons, unable to look away for even a second.
They were giant Weapons, each one glinting with the unique luster of metal.
On the far left was a fifteen-meter-long Wolf Fang Club. Its thick shaft exuded a sense of Power, and every spike on its head was meticulously polished, glinting with a cold, bloodthirsty light, as if yearning to tear flesh.
Next to it was a Double-Bladed Giant Axe. Its blades formed a perfect curve, and faint Magic Patterns had even been tempered onto their surface. The heavy axe head held the Power to cleave mountains and shatter stone; just looking at it, one could feel an overwhelming, murderous aura.
There was also a Chain Whip of an even wilder design, its massive Meteor Hammer covered in barbs. Then there was a Giant Cutting Sword, pitch-black as if it could swallow light. The blade was wide and thick, its style crude, yet it exuded an ultimate sharpness.
Every Weapon, whether in design or craftsmanship, far surpassed the current standards of the Giant City-State.
The smiths here could also forge Weapons, but most were crude and clumsy, more like sharpened lumps of iron.
But these, the ones before their eyes, were not just Weapons. They were works of art, crafted for killing.
