Chapter 519 Notebook
Chapter 519 Notebook
Meng Fangfang walked into her home, looking somewhat tired. She had worked all day and was exhausted.
Besides work-related matters, You An, that woman, kept nagging incessantly in her ear, making her regret telling her that she knew the man she met on the train.
Meng Fangfang originally thought that they would part ways after getting off the bus and would not have any further contact. However, she did not expect that her friend would actually take this stranger to heart. During the few days in Beijing, she would go to the streets whenever she had free time to see if she could bump into him.
Unfortunately, they never met that person. Seeing You An's dejected look, she couldn't bear to tell her that she was able to contact Qin Jingchu.
She still remembers the instant her eyes lit up when she said those words.
"Fangfang, how did you get his contact information?!" You An grabbed Meng Fangfang's arm, her voice so sweet it could smack.
One lie requires countless lies to cover it up.
Meng Fangfang regretted her quick tongue, but her mind was working quickly. "You, you know that my dad and my brother are both soldiers, right? I think I saw Comrade Qin in a family photo."
"Really? Can you help me find his contact information? Please, Fangfang!" You An's eyes lit up even more.
"I'll go back and look for it. If that doesn't work, I'll ask my dad and brother if they know anything."
"Oh, Fangfang, how kind of you are! I'll treat you to dinner at the state-run restaurant. Order whatever you want!" You An said generously.
"You really want to get in touch with Comrade Qin? You've only known each other for a short time?" Meng Fangfang asked You An hesitantly.
“Fangfang, you don’t understand. The moment I saw him, a voice told me, ‘He’s the one!’ So I wanted to give it my all. I didn’t want to regret not taking this step many years later.” You An said this very seriously, which made Meng Fangfang realize her earnestness.
Because of this earnestness, she agreed to help You An find Qin Jingchu's contact address. But because she had hope, that woman You An started constantly nagging her about Qin Jingchu.
"You're back! Are you hungry? There are noodles in the kitchen, I'll make you a bowl." Meng's mother greeted her daughter as soon as she saw her return.
She doesn't need to go to work; she just stays home and does housework every day. She feels sorry for her daughter who has to go to work every day.
"Have you eaten?" Meng Fangfang hung her bag by the door. "Are my dad and the others back yet?"
“We’ve already eaten. We didn’t expect you to come back so late today, so we didn’t wait for you. I’ll make you a bowl of noodles. We have some vegetables at home, and I’ll also poach an egg for you.”
"Okay, thank you, Mom!" Meng Fangfang walked into the house, her eyes instinctively searching for her father. "Where's my dad?"
"She went to your Uncle Li's house next door to play chess. I really don't know what's so interesting about it," Meng's mother said before heading to the kitchen to cook noodles for Meng Fangfang.
Hearing that her father wasn't home, Meng Fangfang breathed a sigh of relief. She followed her mother to the kitchen and asked, "Mom, is the notebook where Dad keeps his address book?"
"It's on his desk. What do you need that notebook for?"
"Find an address." After finding out where it was, Meng Fangfang prepared to go upstairs to get it.
Her father and brother were both in the military, and she and her mother had always lived in the family compound, so they were well aware of the confidentiality regulations. Her father and brother wouldn't bring their work home, and they wouldn't inquire about their military affairs.
So although there was a study at home, it was filled with miscellaneous books. Meng Fangfang used to love looking for books there. Although many of the books were boring, there were still some that were quite interesting.
Upon entering the study, Meng Fangfang opened the door and went straight in, where she saw the notebook placed next to the desk.
