Chapter 377 Polaroid Camera
Chapter 377 Polaroid Camera
“I checked, it turns on.” Gao Wen handed the Guozi phone to Yan Xun. “It’s not made of paper.”
Yan Xun took the phone. "Where did you find it?"
“It’s in the woodshed.” Gao Wen gestured for Yan Xun to look at the woodshed in the yard. “I noticed there was very little firewood in the woodshed, and the stove was cold, so it looked like it hadn’t been used for a long time… So I bent down to take a look inside the stove.”
Yan Xun glanced at the woodshed that Gao Wen pointed to and immediately decided to go take a look.
As soon as Yan Xun stepped into the woodshed, he sensed that something was amiss.
Compared to the previous room, this woodshed is quite old.
The woodshed and kitchen in the Black Bear Man's courtyard are right next to each other. Simply put, half of it is used as a kitchen for cooking, and the other half is used to store firewood.
Yan Xun glanced at the pots and pans lying on the crippled square table, then at the soot-blackened ceiling and walls. "This stove looks like it's used often."
Yan Xun bent down to examine the earthen stove, then looked up at the roof beams... Half of the kitchen area had these marks of years of smoke, it seemed that the owner of the house must have cooked here often.
“These marks wouldn’t be this obvious if they hadn’t been there for more than a decade,” Yan Xun said.
When he was a child, he went to a breakfast shop in a small town. The shop had been there for many years, supposedly since his father's father's time.
When he went to attend a relative's funeral, he returned to that small town. There wasn't much to eat in the town that morning, so the adults in his family took him to that breakfast shop.
He remembered that the breakfast shop was the same; one wall was blackened by the smoke from burning firewood, and even the roof had these marks.
The traces of the kitchen in front of him were very similar to those of the breakfast shops he had seen in his childhood.
Yan Xun frowned suddenly as he thought of this.
He tried to recall more details, but only fragments came to mind—
Although the adults had calm expressions, their eyes revealed a sense of relief, as if they had survived a disaster.
The osmanthus flowers are in bloom.
One of the adults suddenly said.
'It doesn't seem to be the season for flowers to bloom now?'
This sentence seemed to press the pause button on the scene in memory. The adults seemed worried that they had violated some taboo, and suddenly stopped talking.
Until someone patted Yan Xun's head and asked, "Was the steamed bun delicious?"
'Just ordinary.'
From what I remember, that's roughly what he said.
This sudden revelation of memories caught Yan Xun off guard—perhaps it was his terrible expression that even Gao Wen became uneasy, “…What’s wrong?”
"No." Yan Xun looked at Gao Wen, "I was just thinking about something from the past."
Where was your phone found?
"Oh, here." Gao Wen beckoned Yan Xun to follow him to the side of the stove. "I thought this place could be used to hide something, so I thought I'd take a look."
However, the lighting in this kitchen-cum-wood-shed place was so poor—and he didn't have any lighting equipment, he couldn't see anything hidden inside the dark stove.
Thinking that he might as well go all the way, he reached inside and reached in—
"When I first touched that square thing, I thought I'd found a hidden gold bar," Gao Wen said dejectedly.
"But I quickly found the button next to me." Gao Wen gestured for Yan Xun to look at the volume buttons.
"I took it out and saw that it was an Apple phone."
"I tried turning it on, and the battery is still at 70%, but I don't know the password." Gao Wen squatted by the stove, completely baffled. "I'm a little confused about this instance?"
"How could this place possibly have the latest iPhone?"
Yan Xun glanced at his phone's lock screen—
The default wallpaper is completely devoid of any information.
The only information we have is that the current date is probably May 2, 2025... In other words, they might still be in the 21st century.
"Have we traveled through time?" Gawain was confused by the appearance of the cell phone.
Yan Xun then took out the cup he had just taken from the room and showed it to Gao Wen to check the bottom.
Gao Wen immediately spotted the huge "Inspection Passed" sign.
“The wood in that room was all plywood,” Yan Xun said. “It looked like a temporary set.”
Gawain was already confused. Even the previous dungeon in the Sea of Evil hadn't given him this much of a headache. He subconsciously looked up at the pitch-black roof. "But didn't you just say that this roof had been smoked for at least ten years to look like this?"
This is also what Yan Xun finds puzzling.
“Everything else in the Gao family’s house is fine,” Yan Xun said after thinking for a moment. “Only in his courtyard are there all sorts of illogical things.”
Yan Xun looked at the phone placed in front of them, "If only we knew the password..."
He stopped abruptly, then stood up again, and, under Gao Wen's puzzled gaze, began searching through the kitchen and woodshed.
Finally, he found another cell phone hidden in a crack in the wall under a pile of firewood.
This time, the phone isn't bare; it has a case with a Polaroid camera inside.
The Polaroid camera shows an impatient Yan Xun, Gu Jia avoiding the camera, a somewhat helpless Li Wu, and Lou Yanchuan lost in thought.
