Chapter 15 Master Smelter
Chapter 15 Master Smelter
Zhong Xiaoqin gave Chen Yu a resentful look, but still took the tickets. After wandering around the Pearl Tower for a while, the three of them returned home in high spirits.
Afterwards, we went to the restaurant chosen by Zhong Xiaoqin for dinner. It wasn't very high-end, but the food was indeed quite good.
After spending a day together, Zhong Xiaoqin had come to regard Wang Wenwen as a friend. While eating, she asked Wang Wenwen, "Wenwen, you're a senior now. Have you decided where you're going? Are you also going to pursue a master's degree?"
Wang Wenwen glanced at Chen Yu, "I haven't decided where to go yet, but I probably won't be pursuing a master's degree. I haven't been able to fully dedicate myself to studying these past two years, so I want to work."
"Then why don't you stay in Shanghai too? I don't have many friends. If you can come to Shanghai, we can look for jobs together, wouldn't that be great!"
"Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?" Wang Wenwen actually really wanted to stay in Shanghai with Chen Yu.
Zhong Xiaoqin was immediately delighted. "I'm so happy you're coming to visit me, how could it be a bother?" Little did Zhong Xiaoqin know that she had left behind a rival in love.
Chen Yu did not stop her. He could not and had no right to interfere with where Wang Wenwen went.
After dinner, Chen Yu and Wang Wenwen decided to take Zhong Xiaoqin home first. Zhong Xiaoqin initially disagreed, feeling that she was the host and shouldn't be taken care of. However, she couldn't reason with the two of them and eventually gave in.
Chen Yu consciously moved to the front row, leaving the two girls in the back to chatter quietly. Chen Yu listened attentively for a short while before stopping; the girls' conversations were nothing more than about cosmetics, clothes, and shoes, which Chen Yu found extremely boring.
The taxi pulled up to Zhong Xiaoqin's apartment building. There wasn't even a security guard at the entrance to the complex; there was only an automatically raising and lowering barrier. After getting out of the taxi, Zhong Xiaoqin greeted the two men, watched the car leave, and then skipped and hopped into the building.
Wang Wenwen saw this scene through the rear window and suddenly realized something she hadn't understood before; everything became clear. She glanced at Chen Yu, then back at Zhong Xiaoqin, her gaze gradually becoming strange.
Back at the hotel, the two got out of the car. Wang Wenwen grabbed Chen Yu's arm. Chen Yu thought Wang Wenwen wanted to walk with him, but she surprised him by asking, "Brother Yu, do you know how copper is made?"
Chen Yu was terrified. "How could I possibly know about this? This is a serious crime, and the minimum five-year sentence isn't just talk; it really means five years of sewing machine work!"
Wang Wenwen smiled dismissively, "How do you explain this Zhong Xiaoqin?"
Chen Yu breathed a sigh of relief. "You mean Xiaoqin? She's legal. You scared her half to death."
"If you haven't done anything wrong, what are you afraid of? Do you really...?" Wang Wenwen's expression turned a little ugly.
Chen Yu explained why he was afraid: "That was more than ten years ago, when I was still a child. Some neighborhood kids were teasing me, so I asked the prettiest girl to compare the size of my palm with mine. We compared our hands by putting them together, then we compared the size of our shoes, and finally the size of our lips..."
"Pfft, hahaha... I never expected you to be like this, Xiaoyu-ge, hehehe..."
"I can't stand up anymore, Xiaoyu-ge, can you help me up?" Wang Wenwen laughed so hard she bent over and accidentally sat down on the ground.
"I was very smart when I was little, didn't your godmother tell you that?" Chen Yu pulled Wang Wenwen up and asked in confusion.
Wang Wenwen was still a little out of breath. "I did say that, but I was saying that you were obedient, sensible, and good at studying, which made her very worry-free. I never said that you were such a hooligan when you were little. That hooliganism is ingrained in your bones."
"You're just spouting nonsense!" Chen Yu released Wang Wenwen's arm and walked into the hotel.
"By the way, is it true that you want to stay in Shanghai?" After taking a few steps, he remembered what Wang Wenwen had said at the dinner table and stopped to ask her.
Wang Wenwen hesitated for a moment, "It's true, Brother Xiaoyu, I also really like Zhong Xiaoqin. Although she seems a bit childish, she's still very cute. You don't need to worry about me ruining your relationship with Zhong Xiaoqin. I wouldn't do something so tasteless. If we can't be lovers, we can still be siblings. I, Wang Wenwen, am a woman who can take things in stride. Don't worry!"
Chen Yu was still worried, mainly because he had never seen a woman who could truly "take it and leave it." Only a saint could do that. However, Wang Wenwen said she wouldn't cause trouble, and that was enough. Wang Wenwen had that much credibility.
“Okay, send them back tomorrow. You should go back first too, tell your parents, pack your things and then come back. You can’t just come to Shanghai and not go back. I’m afraid your parents will call the police.” Chen Yu made the arrangements. “I’ll stay here for a few days and see if I can rent a satisfactory place.”
In reality, Chen Yu planned to buy several houses, including two villas so his parents could move in with him when they got older. He also wanted a large four-bedroom, two-living-room apartment. It was only 09, and housing prices hadn't yet skyrocketed. Although it wasn't yet a year of explosive growth, there were still significant increases every year. As a reborn and time-traveler, Chen Yu, while not yet completely financially independent, could easily afford several houses.
The next day, Chen Yu and Chen Xu first saw Chen's parents and Wang Wenwen off on their flight back to the city, and then Chen Yu sent Chen Xu to school.
He went to Changhong District and started looking at apartments at the sales office. He came to Changhong District to buy an apartment because Junyue Mansion was going to be built there in two years. Chen Yu had already seen the promotional posters for Junyue Mansion, and he decided to secretly buy a high-rise apartment so that he could live directly above Gu Jia's apartment once she moved in.
However, distant water cannot quench immediate thirst. Junyue Mansion still wouldn't be completed for a long time, so Chen Yu went to look at some completed properties. Entering the sales office of a community called Linjiang Xianfu, he wasn't given a cold reception because of his attire. He regretted not having the chance to show off. He chose a top-floor duplex, and because it was a ready-built property, he paid in full, making the process quick. With lightning speed, he bought the house, leaving everyone in the sales office speechless. Before he could even admire Chen Yu's imposing figure, Chen Yu had already rushed to Fengxian District, where he again bought two villas with excellent views and management, just like the wind.
Chen Yu remarked that current housing prices were really cheap; the total price of these three houses wouldn't even be comparable to one house ten years from now.
Although I have a house, I can't move in right away; it still needs renovation, and after that, I'll need to buy furniture and appliances. For now, I can only stay in a hotel. Once school starts, I'll move into the graduate student dormitory.
How about we follow the example of Grandma Yang Xue from "Marriage Nest"—Chen Yu pays for the house, and Zhong Xiaoqin pays for the renovations? Doesn't that sound exciting? A gentle punch from a man's fist would probably make Zhong Xiaoqin cry for ages!
