The Goal-Getting Toolbox!
7 Power-Tools To Focus Your Mind and Ensure A Leaner,
More Muscular Physique!
By Frank Sherrill
I firmly believe that at least 90% of my success is
driven by a combination of mental and emotional factors.
I have a fanatic passion about getting more muscular and
staying lean. It is at the forefront of my mind every
single second of every minute of each hour, every day.
For me, it has to be. In order to do this, I have
collected various tools to keep a precision focus on my
goals. I found that I had to do quite a bit of mental
programming in order to be successful.
I had to stop thinking fat and teach myself how to
think lean. In this article, I'd like to share some of
the tools I have used.
My Bully Xtreme Goal Blasting Toolbox
Power Tool #1. The Goal Card
Read the first chapter of the
Bully Xtreme Muscle-Up Manual. Follow the action
steps that are outlined in it.
This stuff works!!
Read the The Muscle Builders
Secret Weapon!
Do You Know What
It Is? article.
Print it out! Memorize it!
Write out your goal card, read every
day, a couple of times a day!
This is the absolute
"secret"
to your fitness success!!
Power Tool # 2. Reduce Temptation
If one of your goals is to lose that gut
or cut your body fat.
Then...
Throw all the bad food out; donate it to a local food
pantry.
If there are other people in your house that still think
they
need it, talk to them about how important it is to not
have that temptation and ask them to agree to
consolidate
into the “Crap Cupboard”.
That cabinet no longer exists for you. The doors no
longer work.
Never open it.
Tell your co-workers about your goals and let them
know up front that you are re-engineering your
nutrition. That way they won't feel bad when you decline
their generous offers of “treats”.
This will also ease their curiosity at your ‘strange'
feeding schedule.
Power Tool # 3. Share Your Intentions With Family
And Friends
This was the hardest part for me. My girlfriend is an
incredible cook. Her pastries are flaky and all her
dishes rich and succulent. When she is stressed, she
bakes.
She has a tremendous talent for baking. Whenever
there's a bake sale at her church, people stand in line
waiting for her to bring her confections and they are
always the first to sell.
If you go over to her house for a meal, she will
continually offer you additional helpings and it's hard
to pick from the assortment of desserts she offers you.
Mothering is what she does best.
One of the hardest things I've ever had to do was
tell her to stop being a "food pusher!"
Share your long-term goals with family and friends.
Join the Bully Xtreme Forum where other "like
minded" people will support and encourage you!
It will make you more inclined to meet your goals.
You wouldn't want them to think you couldn't do it or
not keep a promise to yourself. I have one very good
friend to whom I send my progress chart every week.
If I miss a workout reminds me. I have a few friends
who, to this day, call me at random to ask me if I am
meeting my daily and weekly goals.
That is amazing motivation.
They hold
me accountable to myself!
Power Tool # 4. Watch TV!
There are a few shows that I absolutely enjoy. I
don't feel bad watching them because I put a TV and DVD
player in front of my recumbent bike and a sign on the
TV in the living room reminding me that I should be on
my bike. I do the same thing while doing my Bully
Xtreme Workout!
I also created DVDs of “goal physique” pictures and
video along with a text crawl of my goals set to my
favorite workout music – great inspiration for those AM
cardio sessions!
This is an awesome way to pump yourself up!
Power Tool # 5. Advertise To Yourself
Get creative find new and innovative ways to have
your goal cards "pop up."
Putting your goals and affirmations into a cell phone
or blackberry is a great idea!
In fact, I thought about mentioning that in the
article, because someone from the Bully Xtreme
Forum emailed me that very same idea and since
he used his cell phone so much, I thought it was
brilliant.
The idea is simply to keep your goals in front of you
and on your mind, "in focus," using spaced repetition,
to literally "burn it" into your subconscious mind.
Also, have you heard of "virtual stickies" for your PC?
Its a free piece of (exe) software that people use for
"to do" lists, but why not use them for your goals and
affirmations too? Take a look at:
Download it here:
http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/download.html
I also suggest if you have an mp3
player to record your goals/affirmations with some
motivating music in the background and listen to that
while you are working out or doing your cardio.
Why waste that time listening to radio or TV commercials
listen to our own "SUCCESS COMMERCIAL."
Power Tool # 6. Watch Your Language!
I don't tell people that I've lost weight. Mentally
we want to find what we lose. Losing something is
passive, takes absolutely no effort and burning fat
does!
The common language does not fit the event. I tell
people that I'm getting leaner, burning fat,
transforming my body. It's amazing the reactions these
phrases get. Try them for yourself and see.
Power Tool # 7. Get Creative
I've shared favorites from my Goal-Getting Toolbox
and hope some of them work for you. I'm always looking
for new ‘power tools' so I'd love to hear from you if
you have a secret tool!
